Biography : Nastrond

The word Nåstrond has its dark origin from the norse myths as one of the most negative and fearsome places in the world-order. Even the name is unpromising; Nåstrond, "corpse-beaches", Its doors face northwards, not a good sign as north is the sinister quarter, that is why early churches was never built with their front door facing north as from this quarter death would come. Nåstrond is built with interwoven serpents, whose poison floods the building. Here runs dead, black rivers of venom. It is the place for separation of body and soul. The body has driven upwards to the shores of Nåstrond, the dead who was just in life may enter Hel, the realm of death. The oath-breakers and cowerdly murderers can not enter Hel, but has to lodge here in suffering. The decomposing body of the dead, or the souls shell are being torn by the jaws of the great dragon Nidhoggr, who watches the beaches. The blood of the bodies spurts so high that the sun rays can not bless the earth. Nåstrond is taken out of an occult aspect, as a symbol of separation between the body and the soul, that the soul stays in the body-shell until seperation, which we call the "trinety of death", first the heart dies, then the body dies and last the soul. This could explain OBE in NDE. Nåstrond developed their idea that the trinety of death would be abruptly broken or atleast interrupted at the third stage of death, the soul-death. There by they developed the interest in the undead, or the immortal as well as their own satanic philosophy of revel in life, lust and the goodness of it. To call it satanic could seen offensive to some, but fact is that christianity has always strived to murder mans needs, wants and wills. Satan is no martyr, but our will. Satan represents our "primitive" nature our individual self-preservation, instead of the homogen self-denial. Evil and good are irrelevant, like Yin and Yang, non exist without the other. The gods are symbols of our own nature. Life and its ending gives questions, is it possible for life after death. It might be possible if we make it so, or atleast we try to. June 1993, three men came together, earlier unknown to each other. They saw the idea of promoting their views and affection of the questions of life and death through the use of music. The group called itself Trident, after the symbol the devil was seen pointing with, as a symbol the world made him. Autumn reduced the group-members from four to two.
The group changed name to Nåstrond, the word became a combination between the ancient and the post-modern writing, yesterday and now, comming together in unity; Nastrond. At the time of Yule, Nåstrond released the first product: "The Black Winter". Three of the songs were later used on their demo "From a Black Funeral Coffin" in january 1994. The tape was released in 666 copies and are since a year ago sold out. During the year 1994 Nastrond changed their logotype/ trademark to the "symbol of new order", A utterly satanic symbol with a demonic, goatlike cranium, the three sixes representing pope Honorius in sharp beautiful edge points. In its diabolic figure worked as a token of luciferianism, and his highest degree the archetype of horror, shock to the christian society, laughing with the inverted cross as a symbol of christianity as a failure, showing it of as an impotent mudfilled pool of unrealistic ideas. The cross inverts the divine trinety, pointing down, towards the black earth. The logotype is to border of becoming ironic, still truthful to a struggling time. During the winter season 1994-1995 Nåstrond recorded under much of problems their 7"ep "Digerdoden" a sort of celebration of the 645 years that had passed since the bubonic plague ripped the spine of Europa. The release was filled of delays, much due to the human factors, people who refused to print the cover because of its extreme art and pictures. The theme of Vampires and the key of eternal life layed rooted deeply in eastern Europa (Romania, Hungary, Bulgaria, Germany), the folklore and superstition of vampirism which had resulted in the violation against dead bodies and supposed vampires. The lines between vampires as the scapegoats of plague, pestilence, the uncontroled powers and supernatural factors made Nastrond's interest in 1994.

Nåstrond had always deprecated the fiction "vampires" and saw the lack of reality behind the fiction which thereby made the whole uninteresting. Still the superstition had the same amount of truth in it as the belief in a god, as it could not be explained to the fully by science. The ignorance of "want to be" stories made the ground for the cd "Toteslaut". The spelling differed from ordinary german (Todeslaut) because it origined from an elder book on the subject; destruction of vampires. The triumph of death was an link between the songs which dealt with numerous things, all from the sadist king, Gilles de Rais, to necromancy and vampirism in magick practises.

During the year 1996, Nåstrond composed their second album ”Age of Fire.” The themes had at this album changed. The lyrics worked more in the traditional satanic and luciferian theme and to the theme of war. Nåstrond became through their music on this album close to soldiers with the mission to invoke the sinister archetypes, such as Set, Tiamat, Satan. Much of the inspiration came from writers such as La Vey, Redbeard, Huysman, Baudelaire, but also from the German philosopher Nietzsche. The cover of the album was showing the psychological act of becoming one with man´s beastly nature. Man is shown as a Pan, in union with the goat, and also giving reference to ancient Rome, visited the year before by Karl.

The title track consists of hard drums joined with orchestral sounds creating the scene for a cosmic war between the forces. The music took the step to become more industrial, and involved alot of pre-recorded tapes, synth, sampling and keyboards. This step was taken even further when they recorded their third album ”Celebration of the Four”, which was totally ritualistic, and where the four elements are taking personification through a given character. The original cover was said to show the Black Sun, that transmit energy and control upon all living things, through the Vril-force. In the year of 1997 Nåstrond developed a branch to increase Nåstrond from just being a musical expression through Temple of Agni, which first took headquarters in France. This first development later dissolved into Temple of Agni to be a floating organization. The idea behind Temple of Agni was to protect and propugate the Luciferic flame of wisdom and transmit Nåstrond writings and ideas throughout the world, with intention to have further branches in all the major developed continents.

After 1997 Nåstrond passed into an age of Nifelheim. It transformed in its focus to become more than but an ordinary band. It was also this change that begun to build the platform that is the one to be seen today. During these years a few recordings were made, amongst others the unreleased half of an 7” called ”The Aeon of Force and Fire” that gave clear references to the teaching of THELEMA. During these years Karl also made an re-mix of the album ”Celebration of the Four” which also gained a fifth track to celebrate the element of spirit. Since 1997 both parts of Nåstrond has been involved in other projects. Karl mainly in the Industrial scene and Arganas has organized his record-company. The fact is Nåstrond never died, even though many thought this because the band existed in silence for several years. In this moment of writing Nåstrond is gathering their complete powers in order of the celebration of the existance of Nåstrond´s 10 years anniversary 1993-2003. This year will give the birth of both new and old Nåstrond material. Harder and more committed than ever, will the band once more call the gods of the blood in their faith of victory!
