Mysticum was formed in 1992 under the name Sabazios. After having recorded two demos they signed a deal with Deathlike Silence Productions, owned by Euronymous of Mayhem. After the first demo they had also changed their name to Mysticum. After the murder of Euronymous in the summer of 1993 the band was left without a record deal again. For half a year or so Mayhem's Hellhammer joined the band on drums but it didn't work out in the end. The band apparently felt more at home with a computer handling the drum sticks. They also signed a new deal with the American label Full Moon Productions to release their debut album. Their second album "Planet Satan" was recorded but for some reason never released and in the year 2000 the band broke up. The band was resurrected again in 2003 / 2004.
