Formed in 1984 in Seoul, South Korea, Lunar Legion emerged as one of Asia’s earliest all-female melodic metal bands. Founded by vocalist Aria Kim and guitarist Luna Seo, the group blended Western-inspired heavy metal with a uniquely Korean sense of melody and atmosphere. Their early goal was simple yet ambitious — to create music that captured both the grandeur of space and the depth of human emotion.

The band’s first lineup solidified when Aurora Han (keyboards), Sora Lee (bass), and Yuna Park (drums) joined in late 1984. Drawing influence from Crimson Glory, Loudness, and Queensrÿche, the quintet crafted a sound that fused twin-guitar precision, celestial synthesizers, and operatic vocals into a style often described as cosmic power metal.
