Letum Ascensus was formed in the summer of 1995. Founding members Carlos Vergara (drums), Sam Fuentes (guitar), Carlos Hernandez (guitar), Eduardo "Cuco" Avila (bass) and Eric Ayala on vocals.

The members met in Los Angeles Area in California for a music session. Each one shared their own distinct musical influences. The session turned out to be the perfect gathering of Demonic endowment.

The band was formed, but had no name. What name should they choose that could capture the morbid tunes that sprung from them? After many suggestions, an acquaintance came up with Letum Ascensus meaning "for sudden death" in Latin. Once agreed, the members started their journey to raising hell upon this earth.

The band has made line up changes; their current members are Rick Jovel (drums), Sam Fuentes (guitar), Aramis Aredondo(bass) and Boris Bonillo (vocals). They started their Brutal Atrocities in 2004. The band's sound is loud hard-hitting and precise drums, choppy low tuning with aggressive bloody riffs, and monstrous gut-chopping inhuman vocals... Napalm Death, Death, Decide, Brutal Truth and Cannibal Corpse inspired this band.

The band has not looked back since day one and has played with Cannibal Corpse, Brutal Truth, Morbid Angel, Immolation, Suffocation, Kataklysm and has played in large LA Death Metal Festivals; Gathering of the bestial legions, The Muderfest.

Today Letum Ascensus is quickly becoming one of the most brutal death metal bands in the greater Los Angeles Area and getting stronger and more popular than ever. They are and will continue to produce hard-hitting, head smashing and bone breaking death metal for the masses !
