Biography : Innerfire

The story of INNERFIRE started in a small city of Transilvania, in Romania, back in the mid 90's. Even though the legend of Vlad Tepes greatly contributed to the fame of this Romanian area, at that time Transilvania was not the best place of the world to start a Metal band. But someone succeeded! Influenced by the early works of TIAMAT and PARADISE LOST, GOTHIC was created from scratch by Alin Petrut, whose intention was to play the most dark and melancholic kind of Death Metal. And the least to say is that the music of GOTHIC was up to Alin's goal. Soon the band signed with the Romanian label Bestial Records, and released its first full length. To support the release of this first album, GOTHIC hit the stage, and played many live shows, joining the line-up of some of the biggest festivals.

But another time was yet to come...

GOTHIC had to cross the borders of Romania! Alin moved to Belgium, in order to meet other people, and hopefully introduce his music to a new - wider - audience. Alone, like an alien lost on a new planet, he kept on writing songs, and it did not take a long time before the goth of Transilvania released a new 2 track demo called "Destiny of Blood". The music has matured a lot, heading to an even darker kind of Metal.

Alin then took on musicians to complete the line-up. First in was Florian Lysy, a very talented and trained keyboard player. Florian was soon followed by Patrick, the former lead guitarist of MYSTICA. For the bass guitar duties, Alin recruited Fred from the local band DARK AGES, and for the grunt vocals, Dahl, previously screaming in DRAGDOWN. Finally, Phil of SALMONELLOSE joined the band as their new drummer. In order to avoid the confusion with the French Death / Grind band, the name was changed from GOTHIC to ALI(e)N, and then into INNERFIRE.

With a new monicker and new members, the next logical step for the band was the recording of a new demo. During the recordings, Laurent of Painkiller Records contacted the band, offering them to release their new CD. INNERFIRE's destiny was sealed, and on November 22th, 2004, the first output of the band, "In Blood We Trust", was released on Painkiller Records

But sometimes strange things happen...

Due to some obscure reasons beyond his control, Alin was forced to go back in Romania in late 2004, leaving INNERFIRE without its founding member. What could have been fatal to most bands turned out to be a real rebirth for the band! Arnaud (ex-ALESIA, DECEIVER) joined the band as second guitar player, and Dahl took all the vocal duties. With this strengthened line-up, INNERFIRE started to play live as often as possible, and new tracks came up with a new dark and violent sound.

In November 2005, INNERFIRE entered the famous Jonathas Studio, in Enghien, Belgium, to record their new opus. With the advices of Xavier Carion (ex-CHANNEL ZERO, SUMO, SONS OF JONATHAS...) and the hard work of Jérémie "Phorgath" Bézier (EMPTINESS), the band recorded the 4 tracks which would become the "My Lycan Me" EP. In order to have the best possible sound, INNERFIRE decided to have their new EP mastered by Attie Bauw, at Bauwhaus Studio, in Holland. The mastering was done in early January 2006, and the EP was released through Painkiller Records in early February 2006.
