Herfst is a young belgian gathering of individuals with a twisted and nearly obsessive
mutual interest in raging melodic death metal. After too many hours in the damp seclusion of practising the 6 string motherfucker in his bedroom Bram decided (summer 1999) to finally forge
a strong metal sculpture with his fellow musical (relative term back then, good old days) comrades Peter and Dieter. Peter had recently started playing the 5 string bass and Dieter had been toying around with his keyboard and severely deranged vocal chords for a while now so we thought why
not join forces and try to make some real kick ass metal music. We were still very young (Bram
being only 17) and inexperienced (both musically as sexually) but we tried and persevered....
We recorded a rehearsal in August of that year which contained really gloomy and mystical black/death metal, without any vocals and with an additional drummer and guitarist. This rehearsal is not for sale! We still like it very much, since it was a recording of us in a kind of embryonal shape, yet the magic was somehow there... Time passed and Peter bought himself a devilishly pointy looking Jackson Kelly and switched to rhythm guitars during July 2000. This lead to an increase in technicality and overall sound.
After all we were still without a drummer... Some people were tried out, some failed miserably
(some didnt even own a drumset and thought playing this genre of music was easy). We found a worthy member, Ruben. Time passed and seasons changed when suddenly Herfst smelled the unholy scent of... beer... Someone knocked at the door... It was Vincent, who was coincidentally carrying his bass guitar and 60 pound amplifier. How the world is small eh... Anyway since November 2001 the Herfst line-up was complete for the first time. Alas, in October 2002 Dieter decided to call its quits due to a lack of motivation and time... Fortunately, at the beginning of the year 2003, we could welcome a new capable and motivated vocalist in our ranks, namely Arne (who"s also active in Gurthang). So now we are finally ready to conquer the world (or at least a tiny part of it)...
