Biography : Hallows Eve

Hallows Eve was formed in 1983 by Tommy Sewart, Skullator, and Stacy Anderson. The purpose was to play the heaviest music they knew how to write and to not follow the rules of others at all.

In the beginning, there were few role models, so the band's sound was unique and they were quickly signed by Metal Blade Records.

Albums include "Tales of Terror", "Death and Insanity", and "Monument". There are many appearances on compilations, video, television and films, including, "Rivers Edge", and "Pacific Heights".

The band's music is diverse, sometimes direct with a punk influence, and sometime complex with a death metal influence, but almost always based on horror themes with a tendency towards a message of personal strength with an aggressive attitude.

The New Story:

Hallows Eve toured and recorded steadily from 1983 to 1993, then took a ten year break. Stated bluntly, that's the fact and now one of the first thrash metal bands in history is back with its ghoulish fourth official studio release, "Evil Never Dies". A Wagnerian salute to anyone who is driven to finding their darkest warrior within and going to war with whatever is one's monster.

The arrangements are daring and monolithic. It is fast, furious, and frothing with an aggression that brings wide-screen cinemascope to the theater of the mind. It demands attention!

Tommy Stewart, Lead Vocalist, Bassist, and founding member, says: "We had some choices to make" when asked how the new line-up sounded. "In typical Hallows Eve fashion, we went out on a limb in the new sound of this album, as we did with each album and different line-ups." His lead vocals supply the high end of the vocals, if there is such a thing being a baritone, tuned two whole steps down from normal tuning.

Rest assured, they will still play the classics and still be touring. Also, featured in the new line-up is the original Skullator! He supplies death vocals and guitar. Don't miss it! Also on guitar, and occasional piano, is newcomer Brandon Ottinger. A piano protege, Mr. Ottinger is the youngest at 24 and came out of the gate as a hot-shot guitarist. Dane Jenson has been in the group for over a year as the drummer Hallows Eve always needed. He was found through his Dad who ran sound for the band in the late 80's. Dane grew up in the Eve camp and became the best.

The production process for "Evil Never Dies" was hard and demanding. Boundaries were reached, pushed and fearlessly crossed. But Hallows Eve is here to stay. They have been called "one of the hardest working bands with official cult status". They feel they have earned it.
