Biography : Genocrush Ferox

We started this band at the end of 1997. It was Toob, Danne & Henrik. We had actually been playing together for two years, but the previous bandname was sort of silly, it sounded like a vomiting Dane, so we figured it we might just start over with a new, even more silly name and some new tunes of fuckin' A murder noise.

The first demo came about in the same year. It sucked. We were really young and none of us were very good at playing, but we loved what we were doing and we knew what we wanted. However we gained attention of friends and people in our surrounding. People we knew said "Oh, you guys are good!" "This is so brutal!" Maybe just not to make themselves disliked by us, I dunno. Sure, it could be perceived as raw and brutal, but good? Näee.. There were less than 100 copies made of the demo, so hopefully you'll never get to hear it, hehe.

At one point, must have been in the summer of 98, we got in touch with Marcus "Mackan" Jonsson.. We got to talking about us needing a bassplayer, he said he might be interested and so there it was, he tried out and got the gig. We just kept rehearsing persistently, making one or two liveappearances at Valhall, a youthcenter in the nearby town of Falun. There isn't really much worthwhile to say, until time was due for another recordingsession. Using the same studio as before, we put down four new tracks, which became the "The Sepulchre Devastation" demo. This was in October 98, I think.

Our drummer Henrik has always had, and will probably always have a problem with recordingsessions. He has a real set of "kärringnerver" you see. Weak nerves.

The little drummerfag gets all spooked and shit, so it took some time indeed to put down the tunes in somewhat satisfying versions of the tunes. When listening to the recorded drums only, it all sounded like pure SHITE, but when guitars and bass were added, the metamorphosis was amazing, and we really liked the final product.

The "The Sepulchre Devastation" demo was sent to various 'zines and persons in most corners of the world and only positive response was heard of. People really seemed to like our shit!

Our guitar player Danne had begun to feel distressed about the music we were playing. Harsh death-grind was suddenly not as relevant to him. Thus, after a lot of argumentation back and forth, he had to be relieved, but before he left we attempted one more demo recording. Now in another studio, one called "Wappatrax". The sound was better than ever attained before, but the four tunes laid down were poorly rehearsed and also, this time Henke's nerves were more out of control than ever. The poor fag was so stirred up that he pushed the pace on some of the tunes into absurdity. The whole session was most dissatisfying with long delays, double-bookings and shit. It took several months to finish, and when we were done we were so unhappy with the result that we could just forget about it and try to redo it some other time.

So what were we supposed to do without Danne? He had had such influence in our tunes with his offbeat, incoherent backward style of riffing and we had no intention to just quit playing together. He still might give us pieces of advice about musical do's and don'ts or whatever when we ask him. We knew that Perra was a talented guitar player, so we just said " come on over!" Perra fit in really well with us cause he's a quick learner and an over all great guitarist. Perra is so thin that he always wears five or more t-shirts in order to make it look like he has a body at all, but he surely can shred the guitar!

When we had rehearsed our tunes with Per well enough, it was time to put down our latest demo in October 1999. Same tunes as last time plus one new. Things were definitely working out smoother now. The tunes were thoroughly rehearsed, Henrik had a lot less problems getting his shit together and the whole thing was done in a few days.

A problem that now began to occur more and more often was that Mackan never turned up at rehearsals. We never saw him again more than once or twice after this recording, so we figured he wasn't interested any more.

In the end of 2000 the band split-up, the two demos; "The Sepulchre Devastation" and "Glory, glory strangulation" was later re-released by Escorbuto Recordings under the name "The Sepulchre Strangulation" (2003).
