Biography : Epitaphs Of Pain

It all started in the lousy summer months of 2005 when Gavin Palmer the departed drummer of ex-Wakefield rockers Fay-ded called JB and asked if they should start a new band. Gavin rallied some troops in the name of Fil Lipinski and Aidan Doherty and we all hit the practise rooms with a vague idea of what we wanted to do. All we needed was another guitarist. This was accomplished in the stature of Andy Firth. The line up was complete.

A lot of grunge and thrash influences to start with and a few live shows of varying disasterous quality put the band into full thinking mode. After never really sticking with a name for long, we found a name that stuck. Element was the new name and with that came a new sound. More metal, more aggressive. Better live performances ensued.

Sadly, Gavin withdrew his services for personal reasons but was quickly replaced with new sticksman Mark Uttley, formerly of fellow Wakefield metallers Hed Gaskit. With Mark at the helm, new avenues opened up for the band and the songs came flooding out of us. A new lease of life as they say.

Months of writing and hard work ensued. A new name was decided upon as Element just didn't seem to suit us anymore. Epitaphs of Pain it is. Now the band is better than ever with top live shows across the county and a new EP to be released this summer keeping hardcore alive in the north.
