Der Geist was formed during the hot Sicilian summer of 2006 when Luca Lepre, Gabriele Schimmenti and Tommaso Carollo decided to continue together their musical adventure, started an year before. In that period the three men felt the need to widen their stylistic horizon with the intention to embrace new sounds. So, they decided propose a very personal death metal.
The band was completed with the entry of Mario Lio as vocalist.
While the band worked to the songs’ composition, found in the word DER GEIST, that in German means Spirit , the name of the band. That philosophical word was chosen to represent , on the one hand, the complexity of the lyrics’ themes (panic , split personality), on the other hand, the mixed character of the music that proceed from bizarre and deep melodies to melodic and intuitive ones.
After a period of progress , four songs have been completed by the band ,that prepare ,at the Raven Studio in Palermo, a promo entitled “Panic” .
With the promo’s release, there were a lot of tour dates all over the Sicily (Palermo, Enna , Caltanissetta, Messina, Lascari, ect…) where the band performed with other bands like Thy Majestie, Trinakrius , Filthy Sunday Circus , Balatonizer and Painstorm. However , along the years , they needed the help of a second guitarist, so Emanuele “Izzy ” Bonura joins the band . Then “DER GEIST” work ,with the collaboration of the ”Allkemist-Fanatix Management” to find a label interested to produce the album in progress.
In september 2010 the band sign with Copro Records/Casket music for the album "The Pain we don't feel.
The album will be recorded in January 2011 at Real Sound Studio (Langhirano, Parma) with the sound engineer Corvi Wahoomi, and will be released in the following months.
