Biography : Dehumanizer (USA)

Dehumanizer formed back in 2004 then under the name Becoming. Not too long after the band was forced to throw away the name due to trademark complications with another band under the same name. Later on the band arrived upon the name DEHUMANIZER, also the title of an Black Sabbath album from the early nineties.

The band formed as Mark Strelka on drums, Pat Reynolds on bass, Kevin Everett on rhythm guitar and Brodie Fitch as lead vocals/lead guitarist/main songwriter/lyricist. The band had a few years where not much happened, just multiple jam sessions a week hanging out and having a good time, honing their sound. It wasn't until 2007 when shows finally started happening and eventually in 2009 through today, having opened for many national and international metal acts such as Mushroomhead, Divine Heresy, Warbringer, Darkane, Soilwork, the Deathriders featuring Niel Turbin (formerly of Anthrax) and Agent Steel.

Dehumanizer gains most of their musical inspiration from early thrash, power and death metal; melding all these subgenre's of heavy metal into the beast that is... Dehumanizer. Making the decision to take their influences and let the music flow naturally was an important key of what makes the band's sound. It was also important to the band to still sound heavy, but still sound like music at the same time. The music is fast, pummelling, articulate and has enough melodic hooks and catches to keep you begging for more.

Staying away from off-kilter breakdowns and typical "hard-core/metal-core/death-core" song structures which plague the local and national heavy metal/hard rock scene, is one way of making Dehumanizer stand out from many other acts. Including razor sharp, shredding solos with a touch of melody was something the band knew they had to include. When, at the time that they first started out, no other local band would even touch guitar solos. And yes, they may not be the most technical sweeping patterns, they are enough to break up the verses, choruses and brutality and have the audience locked and loaded for round two.

The vocals are definately on the much more aggressive side, almost death metalish if you will. But with the breakneck pace of the music and the overwhelming power of the band live, really, nothing else would do vocally.

Live, the band is a power house of sound, visual energy and pure straightforward metal! Stage presence is something this band has owned, each and every time they get on stage. Each show is brutal, powerful, fun and of course entertaining. Dehumanizer is an experience, not just a live band. Moshing at a Dehumanizer concert is out of control with many casualties, leaving the follow up band at a loss for words... and fans (haha, just kidding... or are we?). They live, sleep, breath and eat METAL!

The bands first album, Prelude to Destruction was released on August 21st, 2010 in the U.S. and August 31st internationally on itunes.com, amazon.com etc. etc.
