Biography : Creature (BEL)

1998 - The Beginning

Creature was born in the shadows of the year 1998 under the name "Armed Response". Armed Response at first grew out to be a newschool style hardcore band consisting of a singer, a bass player , two guitar players and a drummer. During that year the band had lots of difficulties, and eventually fell apart. But the two guitar players continued in their efforts to save the band. One of them became a singer. Inspired by the harder metal bands and the growing heavieness the band wrote more complex music with more extreme voices and variated sounds. A bass player joined and so the rebirth of the band was a fact. After an intensive rehearsal room hunt, the band got settled and a second singer and a drummer joined the ranks...

2001 - The Reform

Things looked finally less grim for the band. But the next problem soon presented itself. Some time after the band formed its lineup, the first singer left. By then the bands musical style had evolved from classic hardcore to metalcore with death/thrash influences. Therefore, the bands name was changed to Creature. It was finally a time to become a serious band. In that summer Creature did its first gig. Somewhere around April of that year a second guitar player was found. Grotdul, mutual friend of Zagthak and Golgob, was added to the lineup. Songs like "Demons I Know", "Apocalyptic Dawn" and "Natures Gift" were written in that period, and a considerable number of shows was played...

2002 - The Addition

At the beginning of 2002 yet another series of changes were made. Due to lack of time, the bass player left the band. Grotdul, at that time second guitar player, took on the bass. In March 2002 the local hardcore legend .roach. split on terms of musical disagreements, and one of the members of that band was Gorgash, brother of Golgob. Gorgash joined Creature in that month, so now the brothers are dueling on the guitars. A third change was in form of the music. The music had become more mature, and changed from thrashcore to melodic black metal. In April 2002 a demo-cd was recorded, but due to low production quality it was never published...

2003 - The Triumph

Since the coming of Gorgash the band wrote a number of black metal songs in the vein of Immortal, Dimmu Borgir, Children of Bodom and other melodic Scandinavian black metal bands. Six of those songs were recorded during the summer of 2003, resulting in a 30-minute mcd entitled "Triumph Of The Unborn". The release of the album was supported with shows. The album got positive reactions and sold over 75 copies in two weeks. Also during the summer, Creature parted ways with bass player Grotdûl for musical differences. A few weeks later, Lemuria lead singer Sancti took on the bass and he now the fifth Creature, going by the name of Skairat. Later that year, Creature wrote two new songs - "Angra Mainya Creator Of Winter" and "The Fall Of Mankind" - in a somewhat new style. Less epic and folky, more furious. Think of Immortal and the new Dimmu Borgir style...

2006 - The 2nd Reform

After playing with Creature for two years, Skairat (Sancti) left the band. He was replaced by Isis to take on the bass. Meanwhile, we have written about 11 songs since our mcd and are preparing to record our first full album in the fall of 2006.

The new album entitled "Dying Nation" will be the first release of www.metaldistro.be and will be released in 2007.
