Biography : Co-Exist

Co-Exist was formed in 1998 by Charlie and original singer John Heaney, shortly followed by Quzzy. A year later they were joined by another ex-Confusion Corporation member, Danny. Originally as a 5 piece hardcore outfit they slimmed down to a 3 piece grindcore masterpiece that we're bred for violence. They gigged constantly as a solid fanbase slowly formed, this coupled with the first few demo releases gained them a reputation for being one of the most brutal and relentless bands in the underground scene. Eventually Paul Catten from Medulla Nocte was interested and joined the band doing a double vocal attack with Quzzy.

This was the line up that became infamous all over the UK with their live shows getting more intense each time. Another couple of demos were recorded and eventually they decided to record a full length album. This was finally finished in January 2004 and to help pull off these tracks live they recruited JJ (from Glasgow grindcore band Blob) to join the band on second guitar. The band started sending out promos of the album in March 04 and after some interest from various labels... UK label Undergroove Records we're interested in releasing the album. More shows were played with bands like Darkest Hour, DRI, Death Angel, Cephalic Carnage and Nasum before they bumped into an old friend in the pub - Dawson (ex-Confusion Corporation singer). He auditioned for vocals as Paul Catten could no longer commit 110%. After a few rehearsals Dawson had joined the band and the volume of everything had almost doubled - two guitarists, two vocalists, new amps and even some samples were now being used. The new sound was ready to be unleashed and Co-Exist joined label mates Eden Maine and Prosthetic Record's Reflux for a 2 week UK tour in March 2005. Later in July was when their debut album "Surgical Removal Of The Teeth, Toenails And Drilling Of The Kneecaps" was finally released. Co-Exist then toured with American punks Amen on the first leg of their UK tour to promote their debut album.

Original bass player Danny (now with Man Must Die) was later replaced by current bassist Paul who has helped add a lot more noise - the live shows are now the most intense and extreme they have ever been for the band...and also the tightest the band has ever played. Many influential musicians and bands are fans of Co-Exist - including bands Napalm Death, Brutal Truth, The Berzerker, Stampin Ground and God Forbid to name a few. Magazines like Terrorizer, Rock Sound and Metal Hammer gave their debut album great reviews.

Co-Exist are in the process of writing and recording their 2nd album - their new material has even more variations and styles than the debut album....but it still sounds like Co-Exist.....feels like Co-Exist....
