Biography : Claymords

Through extensive touring and the release of the “More Sombre than Life” in 1998, the band managed to earn quite a reputation in the underground metal scene. In 2002, however, they disbanded and the members went separate ways.

2008 saw Claymords move to Oslo and re-emerge with a new line-up. The band immediately started writing new material. After a few shows and festivals during 2008 and 2009, the audience and the press gave us a massively positive response. To the bands great surprise, we immediately received publicity in the nations biggest media outlets.

Claymords have been putting effort into combining complex rhythms and harmonic depth with accessible themes – thus creating an aggressive and entertaining musical expression.

Claymords hit the studio, recording “Theories Written Black” late December 2009. The band chose Tuft Studios in Norway to record the album. The band also had Dan Eggen to assist in important decisions during the production. Despite not having a huge budget for a large number of days in the studio, Claymords managed to create a furious sounding album! The band also incorporated both the work of sound designer Martin Aaserud, poetry by Frank Eriksen, and war stories told by Vietnam veteran Brian Anderson into the album. The mixing was done by Bob Beal in New Hampshire US, and finally mastered by Jay Frigoletto.
