Biography : Choke

Established in Perth in late 1996, CHOKE, became notorious in the late nineties with their outrageous shows, outrageous lyrics & sheer lack of taste. For a band like Choke it was hard to pigeon-hole the band into a specific genre, but the closest you'll get is yobboporngrind. Like most metal acts there is the growling vocals and chunky guitar riffs, but underneath this is the lyrics to their songs. Total depravity, total muck, total lack of maturity & a heavy influence of perverted sex.

Up to the demise of CHOKE the band had two releases gloriously expelled from the public shitters of Perth. These include their debut demo tape release in 1997 'Onabigwun' which included instant classics such as 'Fear the Bad Boy' and 'Fist of Fury'. Their next release was their CD 'Smokin Tailpipe Action', which included favourites like 'Chocaholic', 'Anal Vineyard', 'Spicy Skin Free' & the infamous 'Your Mums Cunt Stinks'. In Oct 2001, Choke's brilliant CD 'Smokin Tailpipe Action' was been banned by the Censorship office for its naughty lyrics and CD book art, thus becoming the first band in Australian history to have a recording banned in their own country. A marvellous effort that the boys are still incredibly proud of today.

As for the band on the live scene, well the punters come out in droves to see the band perform in various states of inebriation & costumes. Choke were very privileged to support the now shithouse international act Fear Factory on their Perth leg of their tour in March of 1999 and blew many of the Fear Factory fans away, which wasn't really that hard. This showed in the next weekend at their CD launch for 'Smokin Tailpipe Action' where they had an audience of 400+. They also managed to score the support slot for the premier Aussie grind band Blood Duster in Perth in 2000.

In August 2001 CHOKE played their last ever show to a throbbing crowd of 600.
