Charmadynia was formed in late 2006,when guitarists Daniel Szabo and Adam Horvath decided to unite in order to play something heavy yet complex metal music which delivers a lot of melodic vocal lines and memorable instrumental solo parts.
The partners in crime were lead singer Daniel Szöllosi with his heavy Blind Guardian and Candlemass influences and drummer Tibor Barcsi.
Completing the lineup was the arrival of bass player Pal Purnhauser,who brought in his often solistic bass lines.
Our first attempt to record some debut material was torn down because of either personal or professional problems.
So the band's debut EP called Az Isten háta mögött (Behind God's Back in English) was left to the drawer (we will let it be downloaded from our website soon).
These problems saw the band's lineup changing,replacing founding guitarist Adam Horvath with Andras Adam Horvath,leader of the Hungarian progressive metal outfit Dreyelands. In June 2008, founding drummer Tibor Barcsi also quit the band,so we were left without a drummer.
The search for our new drummer was continued throughout the summer of 2008,but we didn't want to be in a play-dead condition anymore,so we recruited session drummer Laszlo Makai (drummer for the Pantera tribute band Remembering The Steel),who agreed to join us in the studio,so we could record our first "real" demo,called The Cold Pitch Blue Darkness. It contains 3 songs,2 of which are no-holds-barred complex,yet melodic metal and a more atmospheric,moody track called Expecting The Unexpected,which saw the band making a small trip towards new horizons.
We have the honour to greet Chris Kringel,touring member of Cynic and bass player for the cult band Portal as a guest on this track with a fretless bass solo,also Balazs Latorczai,didgeridoo player for the world music band Club Era,and our session guitarist Andras also contributed with a nice clean guitar solo.
Now we're trying to find the right drummer and preparing to write the material for our next offering scheduled to be recorded in early 2009.
