Biography : Casus Belli (GRC)

In early 1997 the metal world was busy speculating who would be given the most lucrative and difficult singer job of the scent, namely being the replacement for Rob Halford in Judas Priest. Panos Dedes had a particularly heart-stopping time, being beaten by a hair\'s breadth at the auditions in London by a certain Tim Owens. Disappointed, he sat in the plane on his way back to his native Greece and swore to show the metal world what he was capable of. The time has come in 2005 Panos Dedes and his band CASUS BELLI are standing at attention with their album, \"In The Name Of Rose\", and will let the fans decide who would have been the better singer for Judas Priest. But let\'s go back in time a bit &

When Panos returned to Greece in 1997 with his promise to himself fresh in his mind, he called up the guitarist and his old buddy, Panos Arvanitis and, together, they founded CASUS BELLI, at the same time burying their former project, Condemnation, with whom they had released an album in 1993 for Molon Lave Records. The two lads got to work straight away and wrote a heap of melodic, quality metal songs. With Bob Katsionis on Keyboards, Fanis Balikos on drums and Fotis Anagnostou on bass the lineup was soon completed.

For their demo CD which was released in 1998 they took advantage of their contacts to Rage\'s Peavy Wagner, who guested on the CD. As expected, the demo immediately received fabulous reviews (e.g. 9 points out of 10 in Metal Hammer magazine). The result was a distribution deal with Sound & Vision, who also released the subsequent debut album \"Mirror Out Of Time\" in 2001. Once again the press was full of rave reviews (e.g. 8 points out of 10 in Metal Hammer) and awakened the interest of Limb Music Products (LMP), with whom they signed a long term contract in 2005. In March of the same year they entered the Prophecy & Music Factory Studios belonging to producer R.D. Liapakis (Valley\'s Eve, Mystic Prohecy), in order to record their brand new album \"In The Name Of Rose\".
