Biography : Butterfly Noir

The eternal antithesis between life and death, light and shadow, pain and pleasure, the frailty of human condition are the hard core of Butterfly Noir's main themes. Arisen from the unrestrainable necessity to yell one's pain and to weep the loneliness, coming from different and conflicting horizons, they release their unlike outlook on music to attack and make the listener to ponder. The atypical and unpredictable Butterfly Noir's sound originates from the fusion of such disparate backgrounds, so that, from a rough and minimal thrash metal assault, it turns into a singular mix of prog, thrash, black and gothic metal. This atypicality is mirrored by the group's line-up, that consists of 3 guitarists (Alessandro Paddeu, on occasion on the keyboard, Fabio Nepi and Luca Monni) with a marked tendency to aggressiveness; a bass player (Giorgio Nardi), the youngest, who declares himself black-metaller without compromises, a drummer influenced by every musical view (Alessandro “Lillo” Cortellesi) and a vocalist with a real idiosyncrasy for prog-metal and for the gloomiest “Leopardi's universal pessimism”. At the end, Butterfly Noir are an atipic group for an atipic metal, which is also inconvenient and is difficult of filing; it's a music that's able to brush you with the butterfly's softness and to precipitate you into the noir darkness' hug…

During summer 2002 the group recorded the first homonymous work, earning quite a great review and audience success.

After an intense period of live exhibitions, that gave rise to a further stylistic maturation, in the August 2003 the band came back in studio to record the second demo “Lies Beneath The Illusion”.

Because of several delays (an infinite Odyssea…) it wasn't out but on march 2004; two capable guest musicians also collaborated to the realization of the work: Alessandro Del Vecchio (Time Machine, The Edge Forever, Fury'n'Grace) e Ilaria Taroni (Anima Naive).

After losing the “dark” nursery-school where the band usually rehearsed, then the group crossed a long crisis period that caused, at first, the temporary departure of the bassist Giorgio Nardi (replaced for a brief period by the valid Luciano by Morkblod) and finally the definitive left of the guitarist Luca Monni.

On March 2006 the ep "Lies Beneath The Illusion" was re-mastered (digital mastering) at The Fourth Dimension Studios (PZ) by Michele Bevilacqua.
