Biography : Burner (USA)

BURNER was formed in September of 1999 by (ex-"Divine Empire" / ex-"Malevolent Creation" / ex-"Paingod") guitarist John Paul Soars (John Paul Soars is currently in "JP Soars and The Redhots" blues band out of Boca Raton, Fl.) the other founding member is (ex-"Fatal Sin" / ex- "Universal Language" / ex-"Umoja Soul") drummer Greg Threlkel (Greg Threlkel is currently doing "The Kentuckiana Backwood" project out of Louisville,KY.). Within a month, the two had crafted five songs. Shortly thereafter, the two invited guitarist Mike Pucciarelli into the fold. Soars and Pucciarelli had been jamming together for years in ("Raped Ape"/"Paingod"). Along with Mike came bassist James Wellman, Wellman had been playing with numerous underground outfits in South Florida. With all the musicians in place they started writing more songs and honing their sound. The only element missing was a versatile frontman. Enter Clint Denny, who was the lead vocalist and drummer for the successful local, jazz/funk band ("Jenga"). Clint was the perfect ingredient needed to complete the band's unique brew. Not jumping on the footheels of "New Metal" acts and sticking to their Southern roots, the result is a blend of heavy, bluesy , hard-hittin' in your face rock and roll. The band started playing local gigs and opening for numerous national acts of various genre's spanning from classic rock, glam, to modern hardcore and metal, receiving enthusiastic responses from each diverse crowd . But then due to guitarist Pucciarelli's growing demand and popularity as a well renowned tattoo artist ("Altered State Tattoos") he realized he could not fully commit to the bands ultimate goals and continual musical progression leading to his departure from Burner. Enter Jason (TUX) Morgan (ex-"Monstrosity") into the band, which adds again the very tight guitar work as in the case before with Pucciarelli. The band recorded a self-produced six song demo (with Pucciarelli ,Soars on guitar) of exceptional quality and began building a healthy following, creating quite a buzz throughout the South Florida scene. Around October 2001, Burner was approached by Phil Fasciana A&R from Arctic Music Group / ("Malevolent Creation / Hate Plow") . Phil was givin a copy of the six song demo to check out , and then Phil came out to check out a live show and from there, asked Burner to sign with Arctic Music Group. Burner then collectively decided that this was a great opportunity to get the music they all loved exposed. Scott Hecker, Head of the Arctic Family, put the Burner in the studio immediately to record the bands debut album One for the Road.
