Angelrage is a progressive metalcore band from Los Angeles, California featuring lead vocalists Nancy Carpenter and Shaun Pilon, bassist Michael Courtois, drummer Dean Guldswog, and guitarist Garland Triest. Elements of the band's sound include thundering double bass drums and brutal guitar riffs set against chanting choirs and lush orchestration with innovative effects, sparkling musicianship, and elaborate soundscapes. The songs vary greatly in style yet share an intensity that has become the band's trademark. The music of Angelrage pulls from both modern and classic influences in the heavy metal and progressive rock genres, utilizing other modern influences as well as classical influences such as Bach, Beethoven, and DeBussy. It is in a word, intense, and was perhaps best described by LA's Rock City News: "at once so brutal and beautiful it takes your breath away!" The band was working on a new CD, Heresy but disbanded in 2020 after the departure of lead vocalist Nancy Carpenter and the death of original drummer Matt Rutherford.
