Despite reaching #1 on Rock Radio with "Ghost", great reviews and Senior A&R Michael Ostin's love for the band the promotion people didn't know how to promote such a "diverse band". With the lack of support from the label, that lead to the departure of Mathewson and bassist Paul Edwards. Warner Bros. dropped the band in late 1994. Gregory Markel and Chip Moreland continued writing and recording demos as Altered State until 1995 giving up on Mathewson's return.
