Biography : Abaddon (GER)

Founded in 1995, Abaddon had to rearrange the line up until the first demo, called "The Infernal Revelation" came out in 1998. Finally, seven members were chosen to unite their skills and their power in order to make the band work best. Markus Esch (Vocals), Leif Pannewig (Vocals), Daniel Esch (Guitar), Sebastian Bossmann (Guitar), Steffen Schmitz (Bass), Dorothea Pomsel (Vocals & Keys) Lars Tschentschel (Drums) They recorded their first Album "De Occulta Philosophia" three years later ( July 2001) in the Prolog-Studios in Dortmund. It was finally released on Feb. 28th, 2003. Only a couple of months after the recording session, guitar player Sebastian Bossmann was involved in a car accident and therefore had to be replaced adequately. Fortunately, Abaddon could gain the assistance of David Diederichs, renowned for working the strings in the death metal band Execrate. After they started working in this new formation, Abaddon soon got a reputation of a fascinating live performing band, and their improvement had quickly got around which gave them the opportunity to play numerous concerts next to well known bands including Adorned Brood, Crack Up, Dew Scented, Die Happy, In Blackest Velvet, Nebular Moon, Night in Gales, Ninnghizidda, Powergod, Skyclad and Soul Demise throughout whole Germany and neighbouring countries. The summit of this tour was the participation at the promotion award of JUZ in Andernach, where Abaddon was among the TOP 10 of 150 competitors and received the 2nd price in the internet voting. This gig was broadcasted on local television and could be watched on the internet. Another highlight in Abaddon`s history was the participation on the culture project "Zoooooo!!!" which was founded by the German Ministry of Culture. Abaddon and three other bands of different music styles presented a show somewhere between theatre, musical and madness. In September 2002, Lars and Simone left Abaddon because of private reasons. The gap at the keys was fortunately filled immediately by Darius Widera, who is well known from the band Nebular Moon. The line up was finally completed with Lukas Raupp who has played the drums for Abaddon since May 2003. After the return of Daniel Esch, who had been abroad for a year, the band is completed again and keen on presenting their new material of their next concept album "Exprimere Confessionem" on stage. On Oct. 22nd, 2003, Abaddon received their "baptism of fire" on Dong-Open Air and could give evidence that they have not lost their trademark: music of high quality with the ability to form this into a fascinating live performance. Therefore Abaddon is prepared for the next concert season better than ever.
