Biography : 60 Grit

We are an experimental metal band, playing in the Connecticut music scene for 9 years. We each have a varied background in music, but we have come together with a heavy, aggressive sound. Over the years, we have had many different members. Currently 60 Grit is Eric Pytnowski, Kristian Grimaldi, Dylan Marquis and Mike Lachapelle.

In 2003 Gary Frye, Kristian and Dylan started 60 Grit from the pieces of two Bolton bands; Blood Savage and Entropy. We were seeking to create a more unique sound, with all original music. Combining Dylan's aggressive, and jazz oriented drumming with Kristian's dark, bluesy, percussive guitar. Adding Gary's driving bass lines created the foundation from which 60 Grit built on. 60 Grit's first show included Jeremy on vocals, but soon left to persue another band.

In upcoming years, many different members came and went. After a year or so, Eric joined the band on guitar. Gary left for Maine to gain his degree in physical therepy, he was replaced by Jeremy Banas. Both Eric and Jeremy had previously played with Kristian in the band Blood Savage, and had both had been a long time friends. Eric also left around the same time to persue a degree Music Business from the University of New Haven. After a year, Jeremy left for school in Washington DC and he was replaced by Shawn Kelly At the time, his brother Pat Kelly had been with the band for a year on vocals. After a year Kristian took up lead vocals in the band, and Kyle Johnson bagan playing bass.

60 Grit was brought onto the 10 Foot Reach Records label, based out of Bristol, Connecticut. At that time, the recording of Dimesional Black Mass began. Kyle finished the album with the band and left shortly after for Bogeta, Columbia.

60 Grit was for some time without a bass player before Mike Lachapelle joined, replacing Kyle. Mike later left 60 Grit, to persue a solo project. In the interm, Jeremy Banas played bass. He has since left to play exclusively with Tetramer, and Mike has rejoined 60 Grit. We are thankful to have him back playing with us.
