Naoto grew up a somewhat awkward and out-of-place childhood. Born to a family that had three other girls, Naoto being the youngest, she was always different from her siblings. Her sisters were all taller and slim, while little Naoto was short and somewhat chubby. She was also very shy around just about anyone except her immediate family. The two added together caused the child many problems with her peers, beginning in first grade and going all the way through fifth grade. She was constantly teased about her weight even though she wasn't even at the 'overweight' mark, picked on for being the quite freak who had no friends. Her parents, a businessman and a housewife, worried about their youngest daughter, but felt there was nothing they could do and left the little girl to her own devices.

After five years of constant tormenting from her classmates, little Naoto decided she had had enough and began striving to make it stop. She did excessive dieting, even to the point of just not eating some days, ran as much as she possibly could, and further into her schooling even took up weight lifting until she picked up the bass guitar. Half-way through her seventh year in school, the once-chubby kid had turned into a total knock-out. Despite her change in looks, the others shifted their taunting more towards her quite nature. The poor girl decided that if everyone was going to look at her as if she was still a freak, well, she would just live up to their expectations look-wise and see how they liked it.

Naoto began to wear a lot of clothing people considered "goth", anything to make her stand out. Spikes, chains, leather, etcetera. She would style her short hair in odd ways and wear thick black makeup with one whiteout contact lense just to top the look off. She also gained a fascination with piercings, going against her parents' and school's wishes and getting whatever she had the money for, ending up with ears and a bottom lip full of piercings. Any time she was in public she made sure to look as intimidating as possible, which helped to cut back on being bullied, her strength from working out also helped.

She struggled to make it through her last year of school, and once she had graduated she moved away from her small, somewhat rural hometown to the big city where she got a night-time job as a bouncer for the clubs, bars, and other locations that needed the security that wasn't connected with the police. In her eyes, it didn't matter what people did for a living, as long as they left whatever drama they had outside the doors.
