Chris Tsangarides is a British Grammy-nominated record producer, sound engineer, and mixer. He is best known for his work with many heavy metal bands, including Judas Priest, Anvil, Gary Moore, Thin Lizzy, Helloween, Angra and Yngwie Malmsteen. Tsangarides has worked with many pop and alternative artists as well, including Depeche Mode, Tom Jones, and Concrete Blonde.
Tsangarides began engineering in 1975 at Morgan Studios (later Battery Studios) in London, where he assisted on Judas Priest's album Sad Wings of Destiny. Their further collaboration on Painkiller earned them a Grammy nomination in 1991.
1999 saw a collaboration for Chris as a performer and writer with Shin Hae-Chul in the techno/metal act Monocrom. They made one album and did an arena tour in Shin's native Korea.
In 2006, Tsangarides opened his own recording facility, Ecology Room Studios in Kent, England.
In June 2007, Tsangarides entered the studio with the UK band LunarMile. LunarMile's members include Toni-Marie Iommi (daughter of Black Sabbath's Tony Iommi) and Alex Hill (son of Judas Priest's Ian Hill)
Since 2006, Chris has worked on albums with: Anvil, Mountain, Savage Messiah, Crowning Glory, Kings Call, Glyder, Ethan Brosh, Solenoid, The Delfins, Anthem, Biomechanical, Matt Mays & El Torpedo, Bitches Sin, The Haze, Dave Cousins, King Lizard, Cirkus, Breaker, The Strawbs, Blanco Diablo, Stray and Briar Rose.
Chris is featured in Sacha Gervasi's documentary film Anvil! The Story of Anvil, released in 2009.
Chris recently spoke about his extensive career on an episode of The Rock Show LIVE! on 106.5FM Radio Tircoed, and the interview is available on edition #60 of the shows podcast, released on Sunday 6 September 2009 at The Rock Show website.
