Miseration

Review @ Vadim

15 July 2007
Where to start with this album... I have given 100s out before, but, this one murders them all. I think Miseration is the most talented Death Metal band in the history of history. Being a Christian band, Miseration won't ever be as big as Rotting Christ or Suffocation. I think this album could make it big if they were more well known. That's just my opinion though. "Your Demons - Their Angels" is probably the most well put together album of all my albums. The guitars don't wave, the drums don't sound plastic, the bass is greatly noticable, and the vocals are beyong amazing. The great thing is, this album has growls and clean vocals. Soilwork couldn't pull it off and neither could any other Swedish Death Metal band.

Going song by song would be pointless because it would take at least a day to point out details, plus, most song by song reviews never get accepted. Anyways, I don't think I will go song by song, but I will point out the songs that stand out to me the most . I mean, I love every song, but, some songs are just better. The first song on the album happens to be my favorite. "Thrones" starts out with drumming and short guitar riffs, then hits climax at about the 10 second mark. The guitars and drums are the most amazing part of this song. They mesh together so well and they flow so freely. The vocals are also the best part in "Thrones"; they go from brutal death metal vocals to semi-thrashy vocals and then death/black vocals. They pull it off just fine.

Well, we battle forth until we get to "Seven are the Sins." This is the first song I listened to by Miseration, and it is, again, one of the best songs on the album. Clocking in at 3:23, they pack so much into so little time. I think they use keyboards on the chorus (which is the best chorus on the album). The chorus beats everything on the album becuase they use the epic keyboards and have such brutal vocals throughout the whole thing. It goes off into whispering vocals which don't ruin the song, but they could've been left out. I think the whole point of this album was to show what they have to offer on a golden platter.

Next, we have "Chain Work Soul," the only song that has good clean vocals besides one of the earilier songs. Not much to say about this song, it's just like the previous songs, except different. It's kind of hard to explain. Anyhow, the clean vocals are kickass, and deserve a 100%. I find most Swedish Death Metal, always have some kind of clean vocals on them. I actaully hate bands like them (i.e. In Flames, Soilwork). Again, though, Miseration pulls it off. Also, they aren't whiney clean vocals like on "Come Clarity"'s title track. They are perfectly fine. With NO whining.

Last but deffinately not least, "Foul Infective." The drums are catchy, the guitars are the best, and, once again, the vocals have no flaws, giving no mercy to anyone who listens. I broke 2 pairs of my headphones listening to this song. They blew out becuase, 1. I was listening to loudly, and, 2. because the bass is the heaviest out of all the songs. Since I play bass, I can say that this gives the album more to love.

"Your Demons - Their Angels" could be a soundtrack to the movie 300. I hated the calmness of the songs while the battles went on, so I switched on my mp3 and boom, "Thrones" destroyed Xerxes and the whole persian army. I think this is the best Death Metal album of 2007...and I haven't even heard what is yet to come. I just know I will keep this album close by me and I will probably never get tired of it. Yes ladies and gentlemen, it's that good. I reccomend this album to anyone whether you like Black or Death Metal.
