"Waiting In
Darkness," is a good comeback album by
Sacred Warrior. Even without Rey Parra on Lead Vocals,
Eli Prinsen replaced him. The cool thing is
Eli sounds a lot like Rey. Rey moved to Florida and is now the Lead Vocalist of the new Christian Progressive
Metal band Worldview. Now back to SW. "Waiting In
Darkness" is an awesome comeback album for
Sacred Warrior, even more aggressive and Progressive then ever. Lyrically the songs are very christian, something SW is known for, very much in your face about what is right and wrong. This a treat that comes from
Petra, telling it the way it is without any shame, the way a true Christian Artist should be. The album is a bit darker in the subjects, the title track: "Waiting In
Darkness" is a true SW classic, it's lyrics are about spiritual warfare. "Falling Hero" is a beautiful ballad musically and lyrically. "Sinking
Sand" is an aggressive track with lyrics that are equal to the music. Another song I love here is "
Living Sacrifice" that is an awesome song. The entire album is awesome, I love it all. The tracks above are the ones that are personnel to me and touched me the most. After all these years it is good to see SW comeback so strong. This is the first studio album released by the band in 22 years, it shows that they took a good bit of time on it to make sure it was right, an option they did not have in the early years because of record labels rushing them to get an album out. I love everything that the band recorded. If you have never heard of or heard anything by
Sacred Warrior, "Waiting In
Darkness" a good start. If you would like to hear an album by the very first Christian Progressive
Metal band in CCM history, this album is a good place to start. However any of there albums work for me...
