Review @ Jan91

28 July 2009
Hypnogaja's Truth Decay (released on 30th of June 2009) is for my opinion one of their best recorded CD's since Below Sunset in year 2005. The story behind their songs are well-chosen, because it handels about a important theme: The end of our world. I mean the apocalyptic ending off all live on earth. In every songs they show us that we have made a lot of mistakes in our living history. For example The March the listener about a troop of soldiers who are killed at war and the government doesn't tell them why and for what they're fighting and dying for. Kill The Humans tells the listener that we destroyed the nature in the last 120 years and now mother nature wants kill all humans for what they have done before. It is their first concept album they released and maybe their best album I've ever heard. The protagonists in every songs tell the listeners a different story about the end.
But the best and worst thing was their promotion, which allowed registred fans to download one song of the album for free every week. For the european fans it was a good action, but because of that promotion the fans in the U.S. lost interesting buying the album because of free downloading the songs of the album.
The Videos of the songs The March and Things Will Never Be The Same are well done. The second video I called was really brilliant done, because the band used phrases of Barack Obama's speech "Yes We Can" and shows the people in that video the wishes and hopes from the Americans in him.
The Coverartwork is good too. The Cover shows a girl in a white dress holding a white dove in her hands. It's like a metapher where the girl stands for the innocence and the dove maybe is a symbol for peace. The flames in the background of the cover could be a symbol for our mistakes we have done. So we destroyed innocence and peace with wars, destroying environment, religional discordances.
The melodic is not like in Below Sunset. The songs are not much hard played like in the albums before, but this is facty the onliest problem I have. Songs like Apocalyptic Love Song, Lucy and The March are catchy songs for me. They songs tells my situation so this three songs are my favorite songs of that album. Dark Star, Worship Me (I'm On TV), Cellar Door, Welcome To The Future and Never Coming Back are good songs, too and I listen to them, but they don't really "speak" to my feelings.
Last but not least the band: I wrote a letter to them, because I needed some information about the album as reference for my wikipedia-article. They answered me, that the album will not be selled in Germany because they pressed only 1000 copies and that none album of them is listed on charts like Billboard, but that they want listed there some day. They promised me sending two signed copies of the album, because I promoted them in Germany in several chatrooms and I think it is really great from them to send free copies to a fan. I'm really happy and I have only one thing to say: THANK YOU for sending me two free signet copies and I only can congratulate for a awesome work!!!!
I hope, the next album (which will be released surely) will be as great as this!!!
