Gravelord is a young band from my country, their demo "
Remains of the
Legion" came to me through some friends who recommended me this demo.
Despite the poor quality of the demo I must say I liked it, a fresh and experimental style with a mix of genres (classic death metal, melodic death, Black, Thrash
Metal, and Some progressive stuff) that results in a very original sound.
"
The Awakening" is a short instrumental piece that starts off acoustic in a very striking way, then thunders with a very strong riff that announces what is to come. Following this intro starts "
Legion of the Damned" A track full of devastating force, A flawless execution of guitar, a voice quite attached, the excellent accompaniment of bass guitar and a strong punch from the drums, from the beginning of the song until it ends, without a doubt my favorite song of the demo.
"Broken" is a fairly complex track, Good, but somewhat complex, its onset is quite melancholy until a breakdown, which begins a fairly powerful riff, this track shows the great influence of Melodic
Death Metal but even with those touches mysterious black metal in the voice. "
Evil or Divine" is a good track, but I criticize something about it. The intro is somewhat tedious and kind of boring, though this is a solid theme, very good riffs, lyrics that speak about the harm of religion to the societies and two great guitar solos, an obvious influence of black metal and thrash metal is felt throughout the track.
And to finish the demo there is the track "Natural State" this track is quite atypical for the style. Progressive cuts are felt throughout the song, excellent coordination of riffs from the guitar. The bass and drums replace the speed and brutality of the previous tracks for more technique and precision. something that also attracts the attention is an acoustic cut followed by a strong melody with guitar effects that increase the progressive aura track.
The demo "
Remains of the
Legion" of Gravelord, despite being low-quality recording, it gives us to appreciate the great talent of these young performers.
