Those Endless Eyes

Review @ Aronax

03 August 2007
Those Endless Eyes... What a band! Some time ago I was surfing on internet looking for some Gothic Metal and accidentaly I found web page of Argentinian band Those Endless Eyes, when I saw name of the band, I was interested to hear what they have to offer, after downloading some mp3s I was statisfied with their sound and I decided to buy an album.

'Awaits Behind' is their first release and on the first listening it will take you away in some other dimensions. Album contains 8 songs plus intro. After rather short but very interesting intro, 'Forever Gone' is starting, fast song with double bass blasts and backing guitars covered with great keys, it reminded me on older Cradle Of Filth altough the sound is clearly different, the song blew me away, great screams and magic keys are dominating during whole song. Beside synth paths there are other key tunes, like piano and if my ears are correct, flute! Beside male vocalist's screams there are also beautiful female vocals. Despite thin and usually backing guitars Those Endless Eyes guitarists show their talents with good riffs from time to time. Bass and drums are creating good rhytm section and they fit perfectly in atmosphere this very talented band is creating.

To say something about production, well, that is probably only thing I minded to this album. Production is quite ok, but I think that it could be done much better, in some parts it is hard to hear some instruments, harmonies or drum beats, especially cymbals. On the other hand, vocals are recorded perfectly with little dirtiness in male vocals, while female vocals are crystal clear. Despite not very good production it create some atmosphere, and in some parts it sound pretty good.

My favorite song is 'Fear', great piece of extreme gothic metal with mix of female and male vocals, nice guitar riffs and duels and again with awesome keys. Klara Stini is singing perfectly if you ask me, it is clear female vocal, very addictive, it is pitty she left band shortly after album was released. On this song there are also some growl vocals, and they fit very good in Those Endless Eyes atmosphere.

In genereally this album is very good piece of Black/Gothic genre, and what is encouraging for the fans is that it is their debut, so there is a lot of potential in this band. Orginality is their main adut, and with little better production and valuable experience they got after this release they could be main force in this genre in years to come, I wish them all the best and warmly recommend Awiting Behind to everyone who look for piece of quality Metal
