Abnormal Thought Patterns

Review @ metalwahine

They’re doing what they love to do and that gives the whole album a whole sense of raw honesty to it.

The guys from Zero Hour have put together yet another amazing creation and being a fan of them as well as Cynthesis, I was not at all surprised by the quality of musicianship and skill that was displayed by Jason and Troy Tipton as well as Mike Guy. These guys go well above and beyond know how to play their instruments but what blew me away was how honed in they were to each other to have each track just flowed with beautiful elegance and completely captures your attention. A cross between metal, progressive rock, and kind of a jazz fusion the mind-bending chops and riffs ATP has taken their technique to a whole new level.

What I love about this album is that there is no bombastic display of musicians trying to fulfill their egos by completely going over the top with each song. Don’t get me wrong, these guys are absolutely brilliant but what they do here is take one simple riff and just run with it. They’re doing what they love to do and that gives the whole album a whole sense of raw honesty to it. Nothing over processed or blown up, this is just three musicians who have true passion for music and it comes through on every track. There’s no real way to break this down and review it track by track, this is really something that’s meant to be listened to as whole but believe me when I say that you will not be disappointed. The neck-breaking speeds and insane riffs will allow you to delve further and further into the layers of “ATP”.

Jason, Troy, and Mike have definitely chartered new territory here that will let them to keep growing and exploring what they are capable of and you can’t help but notice the focus and drive they have when you hear this EP. I imagine only fantastic things from then in the future!
