have arrived now in a big way with this album, a very well-executed
recording from a band that is equally all about catchiness than it is
heaviness and grooves. It is certainly one of the albums of 2010
especially from the perspective of
Stoner, Psychedelic Metal but forget
about "tags," this is just a damn catchy rock album. Please support
Alunah and check out this album, especially if you are a fan of
female-fronted rock bands as I think Alunah are now right at the top of

Voodoo Shock (strange name, that) rose

act Naevus. Even if you've never heard Naevus, though, they'll sound
familar, with Ozzy-ish vox singing songs full of wonderful doom/stoner
cliches like "electric mind" and "rainbow sky". Slow to mid tempo,
melodic but ultra heavy, this is in the style of
Terra Firma,
Sheavy,
Trouble,
Spirit Caravan, y'know the sort of thing. The riffs are
weighty, but Voodoo Shock's perculiarity might be their penchant for
spacey mellow parts. Also they cover "Nights In White Satin"! (Aquarius

Emperor "Promotheus" Tape - Technical Death Metal / Black Metal - 2001 - Buy it now Much
of this album is actually more along the lines of technical death than
black metal in terms of guitar tones and riff structure, but there is
still plenty of the darkest of genres left. Symphonic instruments
provide atmosphere to nearly every crevice of the album, and the vocals,
both black and clean, are done to absolute perfection. Also, every now
and then, the guitars slip back into black metal territory. The
occasional melodies are also done perfection, and are inserted at
exactly the right moments. Being any more detailed than that would be
really quite hard to do, as I honestly can's think of any good
comparisons, including their own previous material. This is truly an
album I?ve never, ever heard before. (Metalstorm)
