is there a books thread on here, i'm sure there's not.
if so..what is everybody reading at the moment ?

i have just about finished Stephen King/Peter Strawb's "The Talisman.
Not bad a story, don't usually like Stephen kings fantasy, and i can tell the peter strawb contributions in the long drawn out description's and boring bits.

Isn't the name spelled 'Peter Straub'?

I just finished reading The Great Gatsby for the first time. There are a lot of interesting elements in it, but it's hard to ignore that it is a bit pretentious. But generally a pretty darn good book. Now I'm even more interested to see the movie when it comes out in May.

Infidelity.
With rich people.
And the narrator is a rich snob who doesn't like other rich snobs.

Haven't heard of either of those books, actually. Might have heard of Dance With Dragons, but that might be because there are a lot of stories with similar titles.

I'm reading the Bible again After All these years, marking out passages that contradict each other, Evil, unjust passages, and passages that point out the flaws of the Bible. The stories are interesting if not archaic, I must say. I plan on trying to get my Hands on an English-translated Qu'ran after this.

I've heard from a bunch of people that the Silmarillion is total garbage and a Waste of time. It's supposedly way too boring and only focuses on introducing you to fictional histories in a very straightforward, uninspired way. From that, I gather that it must be like those pointless parts in the LOTR book that goes on and on about a history of a family you never hear of again. But I've never read the Silmarilion, so of course I can't judge.

I think Tolkien's best book is the Hobbit.

Anyway, yeah, reading the Bible is quite interesting, and entertaining. Some of the moments are so utterly ridiculous you can't help but laugh at the insanity. For example, the contradictions are so dense that even Moses on Two occassions points out that GOD is contradicting himself. Also, there have been several occassions were a person tells GOD that he's acting violently and being Evil and GOD changes his mind about doing whatever he was going to do (in one instance, for example, GOD is considering killing all of the Israelites because he thinks they complain too much about having to live in the desert for 80 years with almost no food, and Moses tells GOD that it would be stupid to do that since GOD just spent all his energy trying to save the Israelites--then GOD agress that he was being stupid and only kills 20,000 Isrealites instead!).

I bet mini's physics bible doesn't have any contradictions!
