Um. This is a little embarassing but there were about two dozen entrants, not
Ten thousand.
And if you're talking about the short story with the teenagers that run over a hitch hiker, yes, that was the story I submitted.

Anyway, don't feel bad or give up, it's not like that was the only essay competition in the world. You just keep reading, learning and getting better and you'll get some recognition in time.

Thanks, and you're right, although I admit it was kind of a blow to find out about losing by asking one of the winners to find out for me, I can't give up. I guess part of it is about feeling sore about the hosts of the company not bothering to contact the people that lost (I checked their website and people I knew were all asking what the results of the competition were, completely unaware that they had already lost). Anyway, after learning I had lost my mind was like, swept blank from creative
Ideas, which sucked.
...Then I went to bed and came up with two different short stories, which I'm now excited to write down.
