blackhawk308 says : in response to Enigmatick, i listen to whatever suits my ear. i could honestly care less about genres. music is music is music. it's a personal taste. if someone tells me about a band or group, no matter what it is i ALWAYS give it a chance and then i Decide if i like it or not. While my primary choice is metal ( no matter the type ) i don't mind listening to Eminem, or Snoop Dogg. I wouldn't say that i like every type of music, but i like a very wide multitude of music. And i don't like every song by my favorite groups. Just whatever is pleasing to my ears. so yeah... i hope that clears some stuff up.

What I'm trying to get at is that people simply listen to stuff that is "not bad" to their ears, rather than stuff that sounds GOOD, like REALLY good, something that really draws the listener in and keeps you coming back for more. You even stated "i don't mind listening to Eminem and Snoop Dogg". You shouldn't just "not mind" it, you should LOVE it. Why Waste your time listening to something that's merely "okay" when you can listen to something that much better?

hmmm? Opened minded people don't feel they have to, I think its because they want to.

Like me and Blackhawk, Syllinger, psyco_metal, Mercernarion, MothandMoon,
Blackforst (practically everyone in the forums except for a few
patriotic people)

Well, why would they want to?
plus I wouldn't really consider any of those people open-minded. Not a bad thing by any Means, mind you.

Dude, I think, you're confusing something there. Open-minded people are people who are willing to try and discover new music, not just stick on the same genre, they try to expand their music taste. Whether they like it or not, it's up to them. They don't listen to everything because they can. The ones you're talking about are music snobs.

yeah that's what i think he means. in all it depends on my Mood, i'm a very selective yet open minded person. also idgaf about what people say about what i listen to. and idgaf what other people listen to. what kind of music you like is YOUR business, and doesn't make someone a bad person. people i can't stand are the ones who are the "music elitist" ya know the type. the ones who are all "DEATHCORE RAWKS AND IS TEH MOST BR00TALIST MUSIX KNOWN TO MAN." if a song provokes emotion in me, or makes me think about things that interest me, i usually like it... and when i say that i don't mind listening to something Means that i don't listen to them ALL the time. just when i'm in the mood.

Well then everybody I've met could be classified as "open-minded". Just like supposed "elitism", there's a more Extreme end of the open-minded spectrum similar to The One i described.
