My father also got me into black metal. But not because he listened to it, but because he died a year and a half ago. Just to make it complete, I listened to Metallica, Megadeth and Anthrax that time. Trash Metal and stuff. Now I listen to the most Extreme forms of metal.

The real first Black Metal band I got into was Dark Funeral. The first time I heard it was all like: "Meh". I moved on and got into the more Extreme metal like Anaal Nathrakh (which is Black Metal too actually, but I don't consider them), Cradle Of Filth and that kind of stuff. Now lately I wanted to listen to Black Metal, to widthen( ?) my view on different kinds of metal. I was totally hooked on Dark Funeral. Now I listen to bands like 1349, Watain, Dark Fortress and others.

Dark Funeral and most other bands you mentioned aren't bad at all. Btw: welcome on these forums. Fun to see people around here that speak Dutch too

Anaal Nathrakh rules, i dunno what exactly their specific genre is, the band refers to their musical genre as "electro Blackened terror gring"

I just call them blackgrind, instead of a weird name like that. Suits their sound well.

Yeah, Blackgrind sounds like a pretty suitable term for AN.

I own a couple of their CDs but don't spin them often, Anaal Nathrakh has this tendency of sounding like a hollow shell of extremity with Nothing underneath, the music serves only one purpose, and that purpose is evident within a few seconds of one of their songs. After that it's just a purposeless exercise in being fast and noisy.

have you ever listened to In the Constellation of The Black Widow? that album is definantly their best work so Far, its Brutal, fast, and melodic in parts at the same time. i didn't quite "get" em at first either, but after playing that album a couple times through, i got hooked on their sound.

I love that album, especially the over-blown Power Metal choruses on some songs.

At the age of 15 ( 1995) while listening to this : http://www.metal-archives.com/albums/Evol/The_Saga_of_the_Horned_King/15626
That year was extremely difficult for me, my mother died of Cancer ( age 43). In a way, the music helped me cope with the Pain & anger.
