Damn, I said I was gonna talk about the Korn/Disturbed concert the day after I went but I went more than a month w/o mention of it.
Anyway, it was great, lots of fun. I got a lot of comments/compliments about me and my battle jacket. A lot of people were interested in it.
Alos, my face was all painted up like this:
And a lot of people gave me the horns for that and asked about it etc.
When me and my friend got to the doors outside, the people waiting for the doors to open were all singing the Spongebob Squarepants theme song... then Family Guy, then Meaning of Life, and I was joining in on that. We got in, and me and my friend went RIGHT up to the very front. We were like 3 feet from the stage.
The first band was rap metal and a little irritating, but they left quick and then
Korn came on. It was a lot of fun, I don't care that they aren't a band I really like; I was pumped. I only knew about a third of the songs they played, but that was fine. Anyway, as they were leaving, the guitarist threw his pick out to the audience... AND I FUCKING CAUGHT IT. I still have it in my battle jacket. I was so amazed that I actually got it; so awesome.
When Disturbed comes on, I unfurl my epic
Sign, and during the entire show the band members kept giving me the horns, smiling at me, nodding at me, pointing to me. It was extremely exhilirating, especially since I was in absolute front and the band could literally spit on me if they wanted to. I was so sure they'd ask me upstage to get the vinyl jacket signed. My only complaint about Disturbed's set is that they didn't play any of my favorites except Asylum, and a lot of big songs they didn't play at all (no Voices, no The Night, no Stupify, no Remember), so that was unfortunate, but not a big deal. They did have a ton of video screens all over their set playing video clips and showing images. Some of what was shown was completely out of context with the song, but whatever. It was cool. And it lit up my sign perfectly so that the band members could read it.
In the end, after the band clears off, I felt pretty much fine that I didn't get the autograph. I start to walk away when a security guard comes up to me and hands me something, saying that the band couldn't sign anything but wanted me to have this as a seuvenir. I open it up and it's a printout sheet of various security tickets--changing room access, backstage access, onstage access, etc. It has the date and location of the concert scribbled on it in pen. Pretty fucking awesome, and to this day the closest I ever came to getting the band to sign something of mine. Great concert. Song listing for Disturbed was pretty bad, but other than that no complaints. I met some cool people and had some chats with them between the bands. Can't wait for the next concert around here.
I went there with a big-ass sign and the vinyl edition of Disturbed's debut album. The sign asked them to autograph the vinyl.
