What can I say bad about Arch Enemy , besides it's one of my favourite melodeath bands, that I have a huge respect for Angela Gossow (besides the Fact she's a DM vocalist, she's also a vegetarian, a Mistress in being health and DIY-rebel in all her veins)

9,5/10

New Shining album:

6.5/10. Vocals were okay. Doom Metal needs RIFFS though, and the riffs were merely meh.

What's this? An album reminiscent of Black Metal that was released 20 years before Black Metal even existed?
Yeah, you better believe it. This vocalist sounds like Varg circa 1991, and this was released in 1969. I'm seriously not shitting you right now. This is the most whacked-out stuff I've heard in a long long time.

Powerful innovation that I'm sure Saw an extremely limited release and those that did hear it thought it was utter shit. I think this should be introduced to certain underground metal circles and I bet you that before long a lot of avent-garde metalists would be all over it. Sounds more like Thrones than Burzum to me, or someone playing the Beatles in slow motion and backwards. I am able to make out the song structure, and it's actually very poppish when you get under the bizzare blanket of noise. It's very hard to give this a Grade so I'll give it a
?/10
and now that I think about it, this reminds me of goregrind--noisy, ugly, and weird, but very cluttered all the way through.

Very strange song. Though it has clean vocals and very little/ no distortion, it is quite haunting and alienating.

5/10 for now, i don't understand it yet. Maybe It Will Come after a few listens.

9/10 Funny, me and E were just debating whether Dimmu was shit or really good in the early days. You can tell by my rate what my stance was.
I love that first riff--great way to start a song, and it sounds so awesome right after Det Nye Riket (the song that comes before this on the album), and then the song breaks into a slow tempo with floaty keyboards that creates a wide open Black Metal landscape. The transition reminds me a lot of Beethoven (obviously Dimmu ain't as good as him but you get what I mean). The riffs are great, and the shrieking vocals sound really good with the reverb on them. When the speed picks up again, you get to really see the epic-ness of old Dimmu. The mournful yet somehow optimistic tone of the song is so striking it never fails to send shivers Down my back. Apart from that fast-to-slow transition near the beginning of the song, the rest flows very naturally, twisting and swirling between clean and Distorted guitars. Silenoz's long, drawn out screams are fucking fantastic, also.
One of my favorite Dimmu songs.
I was gonna Smack you for giving a DCD song 5/10, but I forgive you since you posted this song. 0

Speaking of favorite Black Metal songs...
