Necrovore is fucking amazing. Ah, if only they were able to record a debut...

Have you heard Timeghoul? Probably the best demo band ever.

Sunday 06 November 2011 - 22:05:57
Indeed. I love Timeghoul. I could only imagine what an album by them would be like.

I heard a rumour a while back that both demo's were going to be released on one CD, but I don't think it's true...

It's not a rumor. It's supposed to be released by Dark Descent Records together w/ The Crypt.

Dark Descent is a solid label. I don't think they'd announce something and then not back it up.

Not that I care that much because this band is way overrated.

lolwut? Care to explain why you think that?

Sure, no problem.

Overrated does not mean it sucks just that it gets way too much credit. Basically they have some Incantation and some Morbid Angel riffs and add dissonance and Doom Death elements and some "strange" vocals.

So basically they've relied way too much on the "different" factor but I could name a few more bands that are just as different as Timeghoul but do lack the credit this band seemed to have in the last 5 years. Check out Lord of Putrefaction, Castle, Beyond Belief, Dark Millennium, Demilich, Pan.Thy.Monium, Disharmonic Orchestra, Embrionic Death, etc, etc. Some of them you may know already.

edit : not mentioning the shitload of weird Finnish bands from the early 90s!

I'm not against them you see and I'm sure the re-release could be interesting. I'm just tired of every damn re-release passing as the best next thing in DM. Especially now that most of the good bands have been re-released.

Some people, "scenesters", seem to glorify eternally bands like those and often they do so to be different. If you ask them about "essential" DM records like Onward to Golgotha, Left Hand Path, Symphonies of Sickness, they just seem to Despise them but in Fact they have no fuckin clue because they're only concentrating on last.fm bands that have less than 200 listeners just to be cool but do NOT know true DM classics.

Aka, hipsters and posers. We all know about them. I don't think Timeghoul are over-rated tbh, it's the incredible muscianmanship, atmosphere, originality and complexity of their music that does it for me. I do see where you are coming from though. A lot of bands get over-hyped because a bunch of the wankers you described "discovered" them on YouTube and think they're so "kvlt" and "br00tal" cause the video has 12 views, but I don't think Timeghoul is one of these bands.

I would hardly call re-releasing Timeghoul "the next big thing in DM" or even being passed off as that, it would just be great way for the real fans to get their Hands on a physical copy of Timeghouls kick-ass music.

Agreed. But we've seen how record labels have done so recently praising their re-releases as if it were "fundamental" DM. When it comes to re-releases, I'm actually more on the look-out for those "hard to find albums" that need be repressed so I don't have to pay more than 40 bucks on egay (or way more some time) to have a copy.
