@ Ne Obliviscaris: There's not a single trace of real
Black Metal Essence in there. It's a
Black Metal album for people that don't like
Black Metal and need to flatter their intelligence without having to really understand what's going on. Yeah, they have long songs with lots of tempo changes and violins and shit but the music is really simple, basic, linear and consonant when viewed on its own, it's music for idiot metal dorks that like to be all "cerebral" only when it suits them.
Antediluvian is certainly not overrated, in
Fact they're more UNDERRATED than anything. They're one of the few bands really moving
Death Metal forward, their style is fresh and takes influence from old and new to create a
Stranger, more meaty sound than anything that preceded it. The attention they get within the underground (which is a lot, lately, with the release of their new album, although I'm a few months late to that party) is all 100% deserved.
Augury's cool. I have Concealed and it throws everything including the kitchen sink at you and still manages to keep the
Death Metal relevant in the music. Definitely a very hyped band, but I mean, any band that does ANY sort of experimentation and still sounds heavy enough so your average Joe Headbanger doesn't feel TOO insecure for listening to a more understated band gets praise, and at the very least it's reserved praise, these guys don't get nearly as much praise as, say,
Deathspell Omega (who have a retarded amount of hype and though they have a lot of detractors, it's still not enough)
as for
Quo Vadis - what the
Hell do you mean by "loose"? I've only heard Defiant Imagination and it's one of the more technically proficient albums I've heard, as is most
Death Metal stuff from Quebec. How is it in any way loose? I can't really say you're wrong for calling you boring- I think they've got a lot of fairly interesting things going on that the melodeath scene hasn't really toched upon in much detail in their music, they're sort of similar to
Arsis but without the American flavor that they possess, but hey, one man's trash is another man's treasure. However, something like the instrumental prowess and meticulousness of a given band is something that can actually be quantitatively measured- it is with complete objectivity that someone can state that an album is sloppily, or loosely played and when an album is instrumentally tight- and
Quo Vadis is probably one if the last bands I would
Ever describe by that adjective.
Wow, I'm defending bands that mini's criticizing. What a turn of events this is.
If you are a false, don't entry, or you'll be burned and died!
