What album have you been looking forward to this year, but when you listened to it, you realised that it's not as good as you expected.

Mine are

Angra - Aqua (Listened to it once and I found it rather boring. It may grow on me with more listens)

Kamelot - Poetry For The Poisoned (it's good, but not as good as I expected from them)

Jupiter - Atheist
It was disappointing

We Rule The Night - Sonic Syndicate
This fucking sucked (every other album was good)

Abrahadabra - Dimmu Borgir
Again, this just sucked

Paracletus - Deathspell Omega
Their worst album, my opinion

good topic
I haven't compiled my list up just yet... But Grim Scary Tales by Macabre was pretty bad. I wasn't too pleased with the new Gamma Ray cd either. I'm sure I'll add to this list in the future

Yes I agree with you about the Gamma Ray album.
It's nowhere near as good as other German Power albums released this year. Albums like Helloween's, Blind Guardian's, Gravedigger's, Avantasia's, Rage's, and Iron Fate's.

Bring Me The Horizons new album There Is A Hell Believe Me I've Seen It, There Is A Heaven Let's Keep It A Secret.

Its the worst Metalcore (apparently) album I have ever heard.

You intrigued me. If somebody who is as big of a fan of the band as you disliked it, I HAD to hear this. I dunno, I'm just a masochist.

and...whaaaa? They got even SOFTER? I'd say they "sold out", but they had Nothing to sell out from! Damn, that was shitty.

My contribution to this thread: Atheist's Jupiter. It draws less from the funky jazzy influences that made them what they were and more from the Gorguts/Immolation brand of Death Metal, as well as modern Unique Leader-esque tech death. Not that bad on paper, other bands have pulled it off, but goddamn, it just sounds like a big honkin slab of horse cock. It's like they all just said "fuck writing good riffs, let's just crank up the dissonance to 10, nobody will notice cause we're a proggish band anyways!" Well, I noticed, so fuck you, Atheist.

Kataklysm's Heaven's Venom sucked a fat cocksicle too. Not that I was expecting anything great from a new Kataklysm record (as their glory days are LONG gone) but I DID expect more than the plodding sterile piss platter that was released. I got a full review up for it on M-A if anyone wanted further elaboration.

Dark Tranquillity - We Are The Void was a stinker. Again, I don't know why I expected much from a downtuned-pop rock band like DT, but even in their later albums, they still manage to crank out at least one or two sweet tunes per release. We Are The Void had none. Buncha rehashed horseshit. Her Silent Language is catchy as fuck but has Zero replay value, and it's the best track. Shit.

that's all that comes to me off the top of my head...2010 had a lot of good releases but a lot of shit too.

Seriously what happened to Atheist? They used to be legends, and suddenly they came back with us all excited, and they just took a shit and gave it to us. Jupiter had Nothing special on it, well, at least we still have their old albums.

Dark Tranquillity's newest album was very disappointing. Like you said, no replay value. The album wasn't very in your face awesome like their older albums were. Not much to say, I just really didn't like it.

And I'll go check out your review for Kataklysm.

EDIT: I just read it, and all I have to say is DAMN STRAIGHT!

I'm a life long Ozzy Osbourne fan,

but I didn't like his latest release, you'd figure that since they take years to make these albums they'd be decent.

Here it turns out the albums they rushed (in a sense) turn out good, Hell I remember they said when they recorded Paranoid (album) they did it in a couple of days.

Yeah, plus ozzy's age is really starting to show...he sounds REALLY strained on the new one. It's almost cringe-worthy.

See, I don't really give a shit about what bands are like in the past. If they release a bad album, I'm not gonna say its a good  album because it belongs to a certain band. The lead singer can't scream or growl if his life depended on it anymore. The music wasn't too good. For Metalcore it was a 0 for me (for any genre it was a 0 for me).

Besides I think that Bring Me The Horizon has gone Down hill since Count Your Blessings. I think I might pass on their next album.
