Also, if you've ever been to Wacken, explain how unbelievalbe it was!

I'd say, given that ive only been to one damn metal concert, Metallica at Rod Laver Arena was my favourite.

AC/DC the first time in 2000 was mind blowing. Seeing the band perform live was a dream come true. DragonForce the first time was a really good one, and Orange Goblin was the first time I ever jumped into the pit, very very drunk, that was good fun!

Best gig so Far this year has been Enforcer, but I think that will change in 9 days time because that's when I go see Onslaught in a venue the size of a shoebox and it sells very cheep beer.

I've never been to Wacken one day I will I don't know why people (especially people not from Europe) think that Wacken is the be all and end all. We have LOADS of great metal festivals all over Europe.

Probably either concert I Saw with Disturbed.
Ehhh, actually, now that I think about it, Disturbed performed much better the first time I Saw them and they played better songs, whereas the second time, although they had huge video screens that were cool, the singer was off his mark and they played too many weak songs.
Buuuuut during that second time Korn was there as well, and say what you want about them, they know how to perform live. Plus I got a seuvenir from Korn (guitar pick thrown by their guitarist, Munky) and from Disturbed (they told a security guard to give me the backstage printout--I wasn't able to use it to get backstage but it was something that only tour mates get to see, so it was cool), so that was really neat.
But based on performance, the best band I've ever seen live would be Megadeth.

I think the best concert I've been to would be between those Disturbed ones though. Although that'll soon change, I'm sure--I'm seeing Metallica in July, and I found out they'll be playing with Coheed And Cambria, which is really gonna be awesome.
Ryan 5, how was Metallica, anyway?

About wacken , it was a big fucking mess .
I was there last year . Most bands were kicking ass , even if Slayer were a little disappointing , as they seemed on the urge to play and leave , having no connection to the audience . But nevertheless they were amazing . I especially enjoyed Maiden , even if it was the 2nd time i Saw them , Amorphis , Suicidal Angels , Job For A Cowboy , (a little of Gojira i managed to see ) , Overkill and i dont remember who else
It was an impressive show but the main attraction were the metalheads themselves . I got in a Fight once , and almost started 2 more . We are annoying pricks After All .

My most memorable gig would be Homo Iratus , even if it was in the smaller shithole you can imagine , with only 30 fanatics headbanging and moshing . Also the first time i Saw Opeth , because their singer is the funniest metalhead i have seen , and gave the gig a really lively and joyfull atmosphere .

My favorite concert was Iron Maiden in 2009, they brought the whole Powerslave tour stage and props, played all their classics - it was a unique tour. The wacken concert couldn't compare to it

Wacken was amazing, but it is the festival athmosphere that makes it so. It is the type of place that after 2 days Nothing else in the world will make you feel surprised 0  a lot of crazy people.

I really liked the Grave Digger aniversary concert, they had an intro played by many bagpipers in kilts and guest musicians ... also Edguy had a really fun gig , and Saw Overkill and Kampfar.
As for Slayer, I was sitting at the very top of the hill with my friend eating nachos, had a good view of the crowd and stage, and commenting on the Slaughter during the show.0

Other great shows I've been to: AC/DC, Rammstein (not the biggest fan, but they really made one of the best shows I've ever seen), Megadeth and this year's Helloween (Andi Deris was in great shape). Oh, also liked Destroyer 666 when they came here last year...

Actually, I liked most of the concerts I've been to, since I always have a lot of fun, meet with friends I don't see very often, and make a lot of memories we can reminesce when going out in pubs.0

Well, considering we had to travel by plane to the mainland, it was well worth it. I was a bit dissapointed about the support bands, The Sword and Fear Factory, as they must've signed some agreement with Metallica as their speakers were SHIIIT. Especially because i grew up loving FF. The Sword had some Sick riffs.
Anyway, the Metallica concert itself was fucking awesome. i came into the concert worrying if Hetfield would put effort into his vocals because i watched a video at the start of 2010 live at lithuana, and it was dissapointing especially since it was my favourite song; one. But, as we got Metallica having not played a concert in 3-4 weeks, Hetfield's vocals sounded exactly like the records. (maybe not exactly but fuck it was good). The best song was Enter Sandman, and boy did that rock out. Master of puppets was awesome, the day that never comes, fuck there was sooooo many good songs played.  The only shit thing was that we had seating and Down the front, at the stage, was a tiny little bit of standing Area around the stage, and you had to have a Floor pass to get access. But everyone stod for Metallica. A whole 2 and a bit hours of awesomeness was well worth it, and my ears havent ringed like they did after that concert ever.

(Hopefully ill be able to go to Bastard fest in Hobart. Psycroptic, fuck . . . im dead, separtist, and others to be announced will be playing.)

Ah, that is exactly what Slayer was like when I Saw them!
Them crazy guys got no stage presence.

To Ryan5, that Metallica thing sounds awesome. We got Metallica 4 days after another concert, so it probably won't be as energetic as when you Saw them.
The concert I'm at lasts the whole damn day. I'll be standing the whole time, and when I leave I'll probably be walking on legs made of rubber.
But dammit I am GETTING FRONT ROW IF IT KILLS ME!

Oh, a question--to people who've been to a lot of concerts in their lives without earbuds, how is your hearing? I sometimes wonder (usually after coming back from a concert) if I'm getting permanent ear-damage. After the ringing wears off and I can hear properly again, everything seems the same, but I can't be totally sure if my hearing hasn't gone Down a tiny little bit.

I bet they did back in the 80s when they were in small venues. I bet they kicked some serious ass.

If I had Live Undead, I could answer that.
I read a review for it once where they guy said that Tom Araya yelled some corny things to the audience, but at least he was making the attempt. I also heard the 'Face the Slayer' song off that album and Tom goes 'Are you prepared to face the Slayer?!?!?' at the beginning of the song, and the crowd wooooos.
So yeah, sounds like they were better in the old days.

I take some earbuds with me, but I never used them! I think I only used them once in my life, when my lungs were trepidating from the speakers (I think it was a Manowar show). And I'm always in the front row! I am usually deaf for half a day(or the whole night to be exact), but afterwards my hearing is ok.

My hearing is good, but I am sure I am a little deaf with using headphones and all over time.

You should put earphones on when you feel your guts vibrating from the volume... that is the point where I'm sure you need them.
