Nightrage is currently my favorite. Though I have a pretty extensive list of melodic death bands.

My GOD there's so much fucking fail in this thread, people jizzing all over gay bands like Children Of Bodom, Arch Enemy and In Flames...and only two mentions of Insomnium c'mon, people, if you're going to just spout out homoerotic mainstream melodeath bands that everybody already knows, at least make them GOOD bands like Insomnium..
The lowest point of the thread was when some guy called Wintersun black metal. What. the. shit.

Anyways, My rec's are:

Be'lakor: it's like Insomnium and Opeth had hot steamy Sex and this popped out. Grandiose, epic melodic death that's a little weak in the songwriting department but makes up for it with one jaw-dropping riff after another. The Frail Tide is okay, but Stone's Reach is where they really shine, listen to that at all costs.

Intestine Baalism: Not so much straight-up melodic Death Metal as crunchy Death Metal reminiscent of Entombed on crack with a little more flair. Sweet stuff.

The Few Against Many: Okay, I'm gonna say straight-up I'm a huge fan of Christian Alvestam, but, fanboy or not, the quality of this stuff is undeniable. I've always stated that Swedish melodic death has real potential to be good but fucks it up enormously almost every time, and The Few Against Many are one of the times where there is no fucking up to be had. I'll admit you'll catch me listening to Solution .45 or Scar Symmetry when I've got more of a sweet tooth, but Sot, their only album so far, is where all the meat and potatoes are.

There's a few bands that DON'T totally suck.

PS anybody who listens to the shit that Carcass wrote after Necroticism either a) has no ears, b) has horrible brain damage or c) likes dick.

Ekkaia . Discovered them a long time ago, but forget about them. Found them today.

Basically, melodic death meets crust.

"jizzing over gay bands", "homoerotic mainstream melodeath", "likes dick"...You seem to have issues with homosexuality. Sure you're not just in the closet and that's where your homophobia stems from?

Looking at your posts again and again, I see so many attacks on other members' opinions. Even your phrasing is aggressive. It's one thing to say you don't like a band that a lot of other people on the site do, but don't resort to personally insulting the people who do.

I may not be a mod on here anymore, due to leaving and returning to the site after a few months, but I'm genuinely Sad to see the site Degrade into this sort of thing. These threads can be great for finding new bands; maybe you should let people make up their own minds about what they like and stop being so vitriolic in your comments. Express your dislike by all Means, but I strongly suggest toning Down the aggro. SoM has always had a pretty welcoming environment, it'd be nice to keep it.

I explained the whole gay comment thing in the Deathcore thread, so I'm not going to bother re-typing it here. Calling me gay is pretty detrimental to your case, too, since it's exactly what you were criticizing me for.

I just get a Tad angry when I see a ten-page discussion of people praising the same bands over and over...I mean, people come on to these type of threads to find bands they haven't heard of, not to see praise of the same five bands they've already heard of. I mean, if you like those bands, go ahead and say so, I couldn't give two shits if you do, but at least tell me WHY you think they're so great or else this thread stagnates into a bunch of pointless lists, with no discussion going on whatsoever. If people were posting more obscure, interesting bands, I could let lists slide, but...no. I felt like this had to be pointed out.

I apologize for trying to improve the thread.
