miniradman says : Adds make sites look legit and how do you think SoM got so good. Not by donations. Also, what kind of person thinks that plain black and Red go well together.

Just wanted to contribue something.
Firstly, ads don't do anything to make a site look 'legit'. I don't think I've ever heard anyone defend internet ads before. They suck, period.
And I love The Black of MA. I sometimes stay on the computer real late at night, and anything but a black screen makes my eyes hurt. I find it much easier on the eyes, it's very uncrowded.

But from my perspective SOM is easier to navigate; I went on MA first and came here after a while for that exact reason. The info isn't as accurate here though.

I just now went over and looked at that site.  It wasn't worth shit.

If SOM didn't offer me so many fun activities to do, then I would be rocking out at Jango radio, with my friends.  I've got friends from foreign countries on that.  I just went over there real quick to take a look.  3 of my friends were online.  One from Mexico City, one from Sweden, and one from Washington state.  My station was playing a song from Killswitch Engage.

mhm, I think it does considering that M-A has so much wasted space around the outside of the page. It looks more like a blog than a site. Don't like em? Don't click em

I think they might have taken simplicity to a new level. I mean, sometimes I feel like I am looking at a PDF. The home page has only 1 image on it 0

YAY! more points 0

I find that M-A is a little more lineant when it comes to what info you need before submitting a band like this. I think this is a plus for M-A because I would rather have something from a band than Nothing at all.

Check out the new M-A. It now looks better than ever.

I hope it will load every time I visit from now on.

in terms of being correct and complete, then wins MA by far. MA is also more userfriendly when it comes to searching the archive.

But SoM looks fresher and younger and hosts a more friendly and mature community than MA.

Who said translating everything from French to English is a problem? i can speak both languages what makes it quite fun around here...

Friendlier? Probably. More mature? Doubtful.

Oh, and mini, I'm flattered that you consider me a "guru", but really, I'm Far from being that knowledgeable about the genre. I'm an active fan, but it's gonna take me at least 4 or 5 more years of exploration and experience before I can REALLY deserve that title.

About that doubtful maturity: pssing on each other because they dont like your bands/ genre like what happens on MA is Far from mature

I Saw that some members were bitching about the ads on SOM.  SOM isn't a charity, it's a business.  Everyone wants to make a buck.  So support your club by clicking on a few ads with each visit.

I'd like to see more ads from Jack In The Box and Mcdonalds, with their entertaining videos.

the only time i ever really check metal Archives is if i'm interested in seeing what Genre they classified a band under (they have some unique genres over there, i think Wintersun used to be classified under "Epic Melodic Black/Death Metal") and occasionally read some of the overly-dramatic reviews. it seems like most albums are voted either unanimously bad, or unanimously awesome by everyone
