Wow did I ever
Rage when I
Saw this.
citation :miniradman says : Firstly SoM looks alot better and is about 10x easier to navigate through. |
False. M-A has NO ads whatsoever, something SoM has a
Ton of, the site design is much more simpler and minimalistic and is more geared towards a simple display of content. Plus, you clearly use SoM more often, which
Means you're more used to it so of course it's easier to navigate.
citation :| The forums aren't as crumpled up as in M-A |
Press CTRL and scroll up. This argument is now invalid.
citation :| The reviews are more focused on the actuall music rather than why Varg is a racist |
What does that even mean? M-A's quality standard for reviews is
Far higher than this website, I can tell just by the quality of some reviews I've seen here. M-A has more reviews, better reviews, and the people of the site even
Filter out shitty reviews that slip through the cracks whenever they get the chance. Sure, there's a few bad reviewers here and there, but there's LOADS of great, entertaining, descriptive writers (failsafeman, ANationalAcrobat, droneriot, Noktorn, BastardHead, oneyoudontknow, just to name a few) and the good
Far outweighs the bad. Don't even try to tell me SoM has no shitty writers. You're judging this by the best of SoM and the worst of M-A, which is a completely biased and wrong way to go about it.
citation :We get more points for our submitions |
I have no idea why you even thought this was a valid point.
citation :| There is a commenting system on SoM |
M-A has one too. It's called the forums.
citation :Easier to find the bands you are looking for (from my perspective) |
M-A's got a search function that works incredibly well to find bands that you're looking for, if you know how to use it.70's doom metal? plug that in and you'll get all the bands that formed in 1970-1979 that played doom.
Black Metal with lyrical themes revolving around
Pagan folklore? Same deal.
Oh, and in case all this wasn't enough, M-A is COMPLETELY renovating their website with M-A v2.0 (it's in beta testing right now) which completely solves any minor issues the old site had.
Oh, and the community there, once you look past the drooling fuckwits that frequent any forum, are full of knowledgeable, insightful people with great knowledge of the genre and remarkable intelligence in many other fields, as many of them have hobbies outside of metal. I've made many friends there and might even be meeting up with a few people I've met there at this year's Maryland Deathfest. Not only that, but it attracts some pretty cool people: Mark Shelton of
Manilla Road has posted there, Tom from
Lich King has too, as has the guitarist of
Warbringer, I
Saw one guy from
Vektor there too, and a guy from
Alestorm frequents the place as LordOminous.
Really, there's no competition.
