Well that's some retarded logic right there.

Also, no, nu-metal isn't metal. Some of the bands mentioned in this thread do indeed qualify as metal; however, that's because they're not nu-metal

The nu-metal genre is comprised of bands that try to fuse rap with metal. Limp Bizkit, Korn, System Of A Down, you get the idea.

Lamb Of God, Pantera, Even DevilDriver (moreso on their later albums) are NOT nu-metal, they're groove metal, which is aesthetically similar but sonically different.

EDIT: Wow. According to these links, Lamb Of God is Deathcore, Pantera is Power Metal, and DevilDriver is death/thrash...holy fuck that makes me cringe. Wow. What the shitting cockfuck.

Exactly.

I love System of a Down. I do not see any rap influence in them. They are just experimental rock. (it has been said before too, art rock).

Now back to the topic. Nu-metal = shit

Groove metal is awesome. Mid-tempo thrash with some sense of groove in it. And I agree Enigmatick, I really think that the SoM should have groove metal as a subgenre. It would fit under thrash as a subgenre.

Dude... It was only a joke 0

I think that the line between Rock and some forms of Metal are blured. But the line is very clear between Rock and Extreme Metal genres. Nu Metal isn't an Extreme Metal  subgenre so it can get confusing.

I honestly don't really know and to be more honest I don't really care 0

Why bother participating in a discussion that you know Nothing about and could care less about?

Nu Metal was first referred to Alternative Metal, because it was a new (Nu) generation of metal. Since Korn and Faith No More were the most popular bands in that genre, there were lots of bands which copied them, who later started to use more rap than metal elements, and so it became to the genre, that it is now. I think the 'metal' is there because of the heavy guitar riffs. I honestly don't see the difference in Nu Metal, Rap Rock and Rapcore.

And I don't consider System Of A Down Nu Metal, they're just to odd for that. They were called Nu Metal because they were so popular, and used heavy guitar riffs.

Well, they sound different than quite a bit of nu-metal, sure, but that's more of a Testament to how stagnant and repetitive nu-metal is than to how brilliant and experimental System Of A Down are. They have the downtuned "groove" riffs, the emphasis on rhythmic features in the vocals, they sound pretty damn nu-metal when they're not being all gaily melodic on us.

Where exactly did Rapcore come from?
beacause

Hardcore + Extreme Metal = Metacore
Metalcore + Death Metal = Deathcore
? + Rap = Rapcore

I think Nu Metal is metal. Maybe it's because of what I heard.
Songs like Bodies by Drowning Pool, (sic) by Slipknot, Meaning of Life by Disturbed. I may not like Nu Metal, but I can't really see any reasons it wouldn't be metal. About it having rap in it... bands like Slipknot or Korn that had little bits of rapping in their songs were considered Nu/Rap Metal.

Anyway there was no time where I was big on Nu Metal overall; there just used to be a time when I liked Slipknot and Disturbed and that was it.

He wasn't saying all teens like Nu Metal... he was saying it was made for them.
And I liked Nu Metal before I was even a teenager.
