I have been waiting since the August 15th for my changes to apply of Two bands that I am/have been active in. The info that is stated on these sites today are wrong and its f***in crazy that one should have to wait this long to get basic stuff straighten out.
I really dig these encyclopedia site-stuff but please, if you want it up on The Almighty Internet, make sure it works and is up to date. At least within some margins.

Fix it, please.

/ Chris

EDIT:

Anyhow... As I said, I really like this type of site. NoNe other community is commited as the metal community. Big kudos to everyone who is doing their best when trying to sharpen it up with big information sources!

BUT.

As I also said. I play in these Two bands which would be VERY self-exploratory and obvious concerning all the info that I edited and attached. The bands I am talking about are Three Days In Darkness (big surprise ah?) and Esoteria.
Please.. some moderator check out my updates. What is said now on these sites are shit wrong. Thank you.

(And now this topic is locked?! WTF? Just plain ridiculous, aren't you allowed to present critique? Grow the f**k up.)

EDIT NUMBER 2:

The info is updated. Thank you very much, and I mean it. If there are future updates I dont mind if they take long time, but when the stated info is wrong, then you get upset like I got. Thanx.

Hello ThreeDaysInDarkness.

I agree that the validation system here on SoM is a little slow. But you must understand that not all validators look at all submitions. They specialize in particular ones and that takes more time. That being said, 2 months is an outrageous time to wait. What you can do though is ask a validator to have a look at it for you and explain to him/her that its been 2 months

You also have to considerate that the validators might not agree with your updates . Our duty is to check up with many sources before changing statuses . So if the changes you are suggesting are debatable , maybe the team is reluctant to do them .

Well what the Hell is wrong with a little email explaining why the Submission was ignored. Why leave people hanging around waiting for an explanation that never comes. It's also your duty to be courteous on here. Where is your apology to ThreeDaysInDarkness. At least miniradman said hello to the guy. I'm sorry but some of the validators on SoM really get under my skin. Most of you are rude and incompetent.

In an ideal site , everything would be done instantenously and flawlessly . But there are humans working on this one so it tends to have problems . When you have a number of 10.000 validations per day (half of them being junk ) problems are about to happen , and many will be left hanging . As i said before , there are validators that either dont agree with the changes , or the changes are complete crap (like adding a fake myspace link , or deleting a myspace link just to get points ) . In that case the resource is not updated and its up to the validator to send a message or not . Some do . Especially to members we know are dedicated to submissions . But some dont . It might come to you as cruel or impolite , but even you wouldnt write 5000 mails per day to explain the unexplainable . And get a flaming responce very similar to what you wrote here .

I think that some people validators are rude and some are nice. I'm not sure if this is true, but I think that some validators only validate one person's submitions. I looked through my validations and found that I only get 2 or 3 at the most looking at mine. (luckily mine are nice and are easy going ). I think if some validators are downright rude, they SHOULD be named and shamed because I don't think that disrespecting individuals will encourage them to make more submissions or create a good image for the site. I don't like the feeling of validators condescending, it just feels hostile at times . That being said, I have a feeling that there are assholes who refuse to correct their submissions and argue.

I like the 14 day thing SoM has at the moment (which I thought was fair), but I once had a penalty before where I didn't even get a modifications request. I'm not an expert on human psychology but I don't think people would want to keep contributing after reciving something like that. I just got to the point where I told them to forward my submissions to another validator who is much better and people friendly

But yeah I agree with you mate, we should atleast get somekind of notification on how our submissions are going. Thats one of the things that have been getting on my nerves about this site and something I've complained about that thats the lack of communication between the people who run the site, and the people who keep the site alive. Especially between french and the english side, we are kept in the dark and whenever I ask about ANYTHING, I'm always ignored...

err... I'm getting off track
The Bottom line is: some validators are nice, some are rude and some are misunderstood (especially the ones who only speak french, they might come off as rude, but in Fact they are using a translator which doesn't recognize idomatic expressions ) and if someone is unlucky enough to get a mean one... tell them that they are being rude and to send your Submission to another validator or admin.

Wait... I do that all the time and I've never been pulled up for it.

I only move a myspace link if its in the wrong spot like official website, or if its broken.

Problem identified...

I honestly don't see whats wrong with asking the person who made the Submission "hey dude, we cannot find anything about the lineup change, album change, ect... could you give us a reference?"

I mean, it would be much more efficient, take up less time (something all admins and validators complain about ) and its not as confronting as keeping everything behind closed doors.

In my opinion of course

I Hate where this conversation is going but anyway .

take less time ? For all of the submissions i have send mails  , i never got a responce .
That usually happens because members do have a life . And if they come back to check their messages its a week or so afterwards . They dont feel any obligation other than submitting and NoNe is asking them to . The teams though feel responsibility , because its a job that is appointed to them . So they have to deal with the submissions when they see them .
You have to understand that the team members are just like any other member on SoM . They arent paid , they arent getting any privilages , or secret hidden cult team meetings . They arent even getting congratulated for their efford -ever . They only get flaming .
As much as members struggle to do submissions for the love of music , validators struggle to validate them for the same reason and only . They arent even getting points for that
