I took this piece of text from the french forums and put it through a translator (thats why It may not make sense)

"There is a question I ask myself for a while, following the attitude of some people on SOM and to limit hate messages I received.

Why is it that seems to be a later listen to Metalcore? (it's the same for deathcore)

Why so much hate metalheads sound "core? "
Really understands not me that hatred from some metalheads ...
Why so much disrespect and intolerance?

Personally my creed is this: There is no good or bad music, only this depent tastes.
And I think everyone should adopt.

Do not like music that's normal, because musical taste is something very personal. But why harp on something we do not like the point of being hateful towards him?

Short, so many things to say on the subject ... So I'll leave first arrive before the first reactions to bring new elements to the debate."

I discussed this at length with some of the people from the french forums, we couldn't come up with a valid conclusion

could you guys help me out here 0 0

Do you have the original link? I can read French pretty well; the translation is hard to read at points.

Fuck sakes. Don't start this again. Please.

Stop giving a shit about what other people like and dislike. If people Hate on Deathcore it's their own problem. Listen to what you like and don't worry about everybody else. Why should they have to conform to YOUR tastes? That's the EXACT FUCKING SAME mindset that's being criticized in the post.

Ok, leme get 1 thing straight here. I don't care wheather people don't like my music or not. Its the constant flaming from people who stereotype the music to be all bad and therefore the fans must be bad aswell.

Its the sheer and utter disrespect for the genres and fans that this message was trying to get across. It wasn't trying to convert people

From what I read, this argument is being won by Miniradman. the original topic on the French site was talking about why so many metalheads ACT so antagonistic towards fans of -core things. There is Nothing in there about conforming or anything like that. It is just a question of Hatred towards -core genres.

I see, I must have misinterpreted the post. Curse dat garbled Engrish.

BEFORE I SAY ANYTHING PLEASE NOTE I AM SPEAKING OBJECTIVELY AND NOT FROM MY OWN PERSONAL OPINION.

Metalheads dislike Deathcore because:

a) it is the "flavor of the decade". It is what glam was in the 80's and nu-metal was in the 90's. It is a genre that emulates metal aesthetics without actually being metal itself, and attracts a lot of younger fans who don't have much knowledge of the metal outside of the genre. I can attest to this; a lot of people I go to school with live on an exclusive diet of post-hardcore and The Black Dahlia Murder and consider that music everything metal has to offer.

b) Many of the fans of the genre are pretentious, holier-than-thou douchebags who often are equally dismissive of other people's tastes as their detractors. A lot of the people involved in the Deathcore scene aren't fans of metal the same way fans of "true" metal are; they listen to metal for its aggression and "brutality" rather than worshiping The Almighty riff. They simply have a different type of personality, and thus they clash quite a bit.

tl;dr version: They Hate on the genre because they Hate the music and Hate the fans. Simple, really, I don't know why everybody has to ask this same fucking question every two weeks on a metal forum somewhere.

ok... I have a question

would you consider me one of those closed minded holier-than-thou douchebags 0

Can't just all metal fans just get along, instead of fighting each other. Why can't we unite and just be 1 rather than have a civil war that just ends up going no where.

Since you asked, yes. I wasn't gonna say anything, as I've already got a warning from the mods for my apparent "impoliteness" but...yeah.

Also, metal is a VAST and diverse genre and the fanbase is equally as VAST and diverse. There's never going to be any sort of agreement, and conflict breeds results. Let's face it, if everybody liked the same music, music would suck.

Metal's fan base is indeed VAST and there is no doubt there are differences in opinion. I know not everyone likes that same music, but do people acctually enjoy fighting over something that are peoples opinions. Especially when it is over something as simple as musical taste 0

cmon lets be reasonable here.

About personal tastes and colours there should no discussion
