I've heard good stuff about Ceremonial Castings, maybe I'll check them out.

I think you misread what I wrote earlier. I didn't say Cascadian, I said Canadian XD
Canada isn't really known for having a strong scene of any sort of Metal besides technical death. There are some good tech death bands in Canada. Oh, and under black Metal we have Gris and Sombres Forets, buts they're pretty much just USBM bands, so... :

Csejthe is an amazing Canadian BM band

Controversial Opinions?
I don't like melodic/power/heavy metalat all. Even straightforward thrash/death Metal, I find them somewqhat boring. Actually I'm only listening to weird and experimental stuff.
And I Hate the classics. Bands like motorhead, Kiss, ac/dc, etc. Never even heard much of them. When I had to type the name of the first heavy Metal band to Sign on Metal archives I had to use google hehe. Never heard a single song of black sabbath.
