Seen as metal is often used to discuss some controversial stuff (and even more often stereotyped as doing so), what are some weird and wonderful topics we could think of that would make people cringe? I know a lot of people thought Anal Cunt was kinda bad (i.e. 'a lot of people' = 'all people who aren't metalheads'). So what do you guys think could be the worst topic for a band to talk about?

One of the many things that I love about metal and Hardcore music is that it's lawless, free speech. Unlike many other genres of music; if a pop band started having National Socialist themed lyrics, they would be frowned upon or even stoned to death but if it was a Black Metal band... the attitude towards them would be more like "meh, slap on the wrist and go find another person to annoy with your terrible music." I think that there are no limits on what you can discuss in a metal song or in metal in general. That's why metal has the reputation of being a really "hard" genre, and that probably reflects the elitist attitude amongst many of it's fans.

Have you forgotten how many metalheads frown on those nazis?

Well, I know they're out there but I don't really think people actually "care" National Socialist metal, well I don't. I think that NSBM is crappy for starters anyway so I don't really have an opinion on lyrical themes or the "motives" of the music . But if there was any kind of music that is considered "controversial" NSBM would be right up there, but I don't think it's so bad that they should be out lawed. Just let them continue making terrible music.

At The End of the day; there are still bands NSBM bands out there, and there are still fans of NSBM out there...

But I just read the opening post again and if I were to comment on "a lot of people = people who aren't metalheads" then I'd have to say pretty much every Extreme metal band would have lyrical themes that would make them cringe.

Goregrind, pornogrind, deathgrind and other assorted "-grinds" = rape, Gore, Sex
Death Metal, Deathcore = rape, Mutilation
Black Metal = murder, satanism, melancholy, death, Depression, solitude.

I think you get my point
I don't think Mr Beiber has plans for any of these themes to be included in his upcomming album
